"What are you doing here?" Caesar asked Gianna, stepping fully into the office, his brows furrowed in a tight, suspicious V. "This is a restricted area."
His eyes darted frantically around the room, taking in the pristine surfaces, the desk, his heart picking up an erratic rhythm. Scenarios played out rapidly in his mind—none of them good. She wasn't supposed to be here. She was supposed to be out near the side terraces where Xavier could easily grab her without making a scene.
What the hell was she doing in his space?
His eyes dropped instinctively to her hands. She was holding her sling purse, her posture composed. When he met her gaze again, she was looking back at him with her own furrowed brows, staring as if she couldn't quite fathom his erratic reaction.
Caesar quickly composed his facial features, forcing a mask of cold authority. There was no need to give off the impression that he was rattled or cornered by a girl.
