[Horn Lizard Town]
The town was strangely quiet.
People minded their own business as they moved through the streets. No one lingered outside longer than necessary.
Doors and windows were slightly opened but never fully opened. It was as if everyone was afraid of exposing themselves.
Even the taverns were unusually quiet. The usual unrestrained shouts and drunken laughter had completely disappeared.
People drank their rum in almost complete silence. Those who wished to talk merely whispered to one another, careful not to raise their voices.
This was the scene throughout Horn Lizard Town. It was as if an invisible hand was hanging in the air, ready to descend at any moment to pass its judgment.
Even though the dead bodies had been cleaned up and burned, the thick stench of blood still lingered in the air. The metallic smell refused to disappear, reminding everyone of the massacre that had taken place.
