Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: The Company Of Killers

Lara paused, her hand on the doorbell before she pressed her index. Andrew opened, his eyes meeting hers. "What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you know what oyu've done?!" Her accusatory tone met with a pause before his reply came. "You were free to leave but not to disclose my past." His words eliciting a deep frown from Lara. "What? Is it because you're a monster and you don't want to face it?"

His unhurried response drove her rage further through the roof. "No, it's because many will die because of this. I'm sure after today you've seen why." Lara couldn't help but let out a helpless chuckle. "Hahaha! I can't believe that you have to watch me like a stalker Andrew! Sure you were weird but to this degree? Aren't you pushing it a bit too much?!"

Andrew remained at the door, his hands pocketed. "You are free to leave as I had said but your lips need to stay pursed should you want o avoid what happened today." He took a step closer, she took one back. "But after today you should become the celebrity that you wished, now treated as a monster meant to be killed after slaughtering hundreds of innocent officers and bystanders." He stepped to the side to let her in, she didn't buy it.

"Of course they would think that I killed them when it was you! I can't even turn myself in because of you now without risking getting shot!" Her trip back to his place was met with odd glances from the people around her of which she didn't have the urge to ask. Though some would go out of their way and ask her about her shoulder wound to which she would brush it off as something minor.

"Get in the car, we're leaving for good. After you freshen up that is." She looked at him like the source of all her problems and in a way he was. "I'm simply fulfilling your promise. I can't do that when I'm in custody Lara. Every single time you're near death, your body tenses up, your eyes shut. You are afraid of death and that smug conclusion of yours that I can't torture you is nothing more than a dream. After all I have to make sure that you live, in what state wasn't defined."

He stepped back inside leaving her on the porch, her fists balled. 'I can't believe that I'm left with this monster while the world thinks that I'm nothing more than a deranged killer!' She looked at her hands, unsure of what she was going through was even real. 'This has to be a dream, right?' She asked herself but nothing answered back. She looked into the house, the same one she had thought she would never see and as much as it pained her, took a step inside.

Andrew was waiting inside with a pair of forceps at hand and a metal tray. She sat on the dining table and with a grit of her teeth had the bullet in her shoulder removed. "Head upstairs and prepare, we leave by dusk." His words leaving no space for negotiation. She stared at his back, wishing that he would drop dead and yet aware that with his death would be granting him a quick way out. 'There's no way that I'm letting you get to walk away after what you've done Andrew, you'll have to face the consequences of your actions!'

Her eyes narrowing before making her way upstairs to which a tub of his blood was waiting for her.

. . .

"There's no way that I'm letting you go with a psychopath like him!" Callahan urged, his tone stern shot at Brittany. "Oh come on dad, there's no way that you can let me stay behind when he's leaving. He cured you of your fever so wouldn't it be best if I were to leave with him as a fitting trade?" Her words astounding Callahan. 'Is she aware of what she's saying?' He inwardly thought as he looked at his daughter. He had seen her grow up, all within his expectations with a few handful of moments where she deviated.

'It would seem that she got more and more unpredictable when she met Andrew. She became way too silent and way too measured despite her measured outbursts here and there.' He narrowed his eyes on Brittany. "I thought the idea of having you being viewed as a means to maintain a relationship disgusted you with Adrian and yet here you are, wishing to be bartered away for my fever. Is there something more that you aren't telling me Brittany?"

Brittany's smile was replaced with a small frown, inwardly however her smile was still there. 'How can I tell him that I can't live without his blood? With Lara now a wanted criminal fresh on the radars of authorities, it won't be long before I'm dragged into this as well but so will my father.' Her brows furrowed at this complication. "Dad, I know what I've said in the past but I need to go with him. With his knowledge over this whole madness, the Voss family could gain something out of this and make us rise. From his vial alone we could make billions dominating pharmaceuticals and gain power in the process. You know me better than anyone, I wouldn't make any stupid decisions with him, I'll be okay."

Callahan let out s hum, unsure with what was proposed to him. 'As much as it is alluring to gain what Andrew had given me, I just can't throw caution into the wind like this after today's matter with Lara.' Unclasping his hands, Callahan cleared his throat. "I can't let you go with Andrew, I don't even know where he's taking you. Not to mention, what is the point of billions if you're dead or missing? The point of power when I don't even know where you are? I don't agree with you leaving!"

Brittany flashed a smile, her signature playful smile that would elicit a groan out of Callahan. "I know that smile Brittany and no, you're not sneaking off! There's no way I'm letting you run off with Andrew to who knows where! As of late his influence on you is apparent, you've become far too dependent on him to the point I have to ask whether you're truly wishing to leave or he's swaying you into going with him."

A tap of Brittany's finger was audible, her eyes narrowing. "I'm aware of what I'm doing father. However I do have to commend you for your insight." She didn't press matters any further as she got up and left. Callahan narrowed his eyes, feeling something was completely wrong. 'There's no way Brittany would give up that easily.' He got up and followed her to her room.

"i don't know that you may have in mind Brittany but you're not leaving this house. Adding to this, I don't think that you should be seeing Andrew from now on. You're grounded, given that there's nothing for you to do outside." His words only getting a nod out of Brittany which crept him out. "I understand dad however you wouldn't mind if I had your gun, right?" Her request turned down. "There's no way I'm giving you a gun in a state like this. Maybe later on."

Callahan didn't face any resistance from her stubborn daughter as she remained in her bed, absorbed in her diary."I'll be keeping an eye on you Brittany." Callahan said as he left her room. Now alone, Brittany gleamed with her mischievous smile. 'Oh dad, don't you know me by now? I always ensure that I get what pleases me.' She mused, making her way to the bathroom, momentarily glancing at the balcony.

. . .

Lara looked around, her hands reaching for the radio that spoke of an ash haired individual going on a massacre. "…the individual is known as the walking pale death..." Her glare alone was more than enough to turn Andrew to stone. "I can't believe that you ruined my life Andrew!" Her murmur met with silence before an individual was seen make their way to the car. "oh my fucking god! You really are nothing more than scum! I can't believe that you're coercing Brittany into this!" Her snarl similar this time attracted his attention.

"Should you want to complain during this trip, you'll only get tired." Brittany opened the front door and sat next to Andrew before the car drove off. "I'm quite glad for this ability because right now I would be on my way to the hospital with broken knees." Her focus went back to Lara, her smile flashing. "I still don't know how you went to becoming one of the most sought individuals but I guess Andrew had something to do with it."

Seeing Lara's scowl, it served as confirmation for her words. "Where are we actually going?" Brittany's words resulting with the two ladies landing their focus on Andrew. "We're going to Silvercoast." His words eliciting frowns in the car. "Silvercoast? Why the fuck are we going all the way over there? Don't tell me that's where Charles is." Brittany shot up as they began to pick up the pace.

"We're meeting a very interesting individual before we go to Charles. One that will be essential for your growth Brittany." The sound of the car's engine filling the silence before they came to their first check point, one of many that they left with no survivors. "Are you trying to make sure that they can trace us Andrew? It won't take them long before they realize that we're trying to leave Stillwater." Lara was the one to speak up, nauseating from the blood.

Andrew brought the car to a stop near the last check point, this one far more formal and with way more officers. "Are you sure that you can get rid of all of them?" Brittany asked to his side, a look of concern on her face. There were some cars ahead of them before it was their turn.

*Thud*

One of the officers fell lifeless and shortly after the alarm was blared. "Great! How the fuck are we supposed to leave?" Lara inquired, a part of her wishing that the reign of Andrew to be put to rest while also a part of her wishing that she wouldn't be shot on sight by the officers. 'How would I tell them that I'm not a murderer like these two?' She couldn't help but wonder as screams began to permeate through the air, officers and civilians dropping dead.

As for the restrictions placed, Andrew using his telekinesis dropped the bollards back into the ground and forced the two cars ahead of them to move forward as well as three cars behind them. The whole scene filled with blood, chaos and death as other cars began to rush through, others stopping in place and the drivers running back into the city. "Did you have to kill so many people for us to leave?" Lara asked, her face full of disgust as they blended in the stream of cars that drove out of Stillwater.

"It was a distraction Lara, and with your tone, why are you so negative? After all we're not trying to get caught here." Brittany's words elicited a defeated laugh out of Lara. "Hahaha! I can't believe the absurdity of you two. You really won't hesitate to kill anyone to ensure you get what you want and I'm forced to be with you two! What did I do t be with you two?!" Brittany let out a small chuckle while Andrew was focused on the road ahead.

It wasn't long before darkness covered the lands, the head lights cutting through the darkness with Brittany and Lara falling asleep while Andrew kept on driving. The two woke up and with plenty of rations prepared, they didn't have to worry much about food or sleep, taking small breaks every once in a while for some air and relieving themselves.
