*One week later*
Brittany got out of the bathroom, a heavy sigh leaving her lips as she stared at her reflection. 'What the fuck is this?' Her thoughts echoed in her mind as she stared at her back which had faint crimson outlines of what seemed to be wings, similar to those of moths or butterflies. 'Of course Andrew would know something about this but he won't tell me.' She grunted, now putting on her clothes before making her way to her dad's office.
In the king sized bed lay Callahan, unconscious from the recent head aches he was assaulted with. It wasn't just him but the rest of the world that was facing this burden, unsure of what would happen next. "I think that it would be best for me to go and see him dad. He seems to know more about this than anyone else, it explains why I don't have any headaches."
Her words raising a topic the two had shared in the past. "Brittany, you can't go and see him." Callahan's voice low as a piece of wet cloth remained perched on his forehead. "I can't bear to see you in such a state if I knew that there is a cure to this. Not to mention your burning up has gotten worse, we don't have any other choice."
Callahan rolled his head to the side, falling into thought. 'There's no way that I would let my daughter go back to such a person but it would seem that I have no other choice. If he let her come back then it's clear that he has no ill will towards me.' He concluded as a dry raspy cough left his dry lips. "Fine…but make sure that you carry this with you."
In his hand a gun which she took. "Even though it might be useless against him, it could buy you some time." Brittany flashed a look of concern as she gave a light nod before leaving. 'Finally, I can leave and suck more of Andrew's blood.' Her figure resting in the driver seat before driving off.
. . . .
"Miss, you need to pull over for a security check." The sound of an officer booming over a megaphone brought Brittany's car to a stop. A makeshift checkpoint with officers could be seen. "Your identity card." Brittany fished onto the dashboard and produced her identity card which after a scan was verified and she was allowed to pass. 'To think that the rates of murder would go up so high! Looks like Andrew knew that this would happen given the hearts he fed me at the time.' A gruesome thought surfaced in her mind which made her grimace.
'I still can't believe that he would put me through something as degrading like that.' Her car slowing down as she arrived at her destination, the electric gate letting her in. Walking into the mansion, she was met with an empty house. "Andrew! Lara! Is anyone here?!?" Her voice boomed before she caught the voices of the two coming from the garden in the back.
"And here I thought that the two of you had left once again to hijack another grave." Her voice echoing in the ears of the two who were focusing on Lara's skills.
*Whoosh*
Lara shot out a smooth silky thread towards the American Holly, this time her silk cut through the tree trunk with ease. "A massive improvement no doubt." Andrew stated before his gaze went to Brittany who came in for a hug. "Missed you, but more so your blood." His arms wrapping around hers and without warning dug her canines into his neck. "Well you are a great teacher, as much as I'd hate to admit it." Lara said, retracting her silk back into her hand.
"But I do have to ask, what is with this weird golden coat to my silk? It smells odd." Andrew chatted with Lara as if a twenty year old lady wasn't sucking his blood in broad daylight. "It's a property from the weave i collected back at the grave. A golden poison dart frog weave. Something to give your silks some danger to them when facing other people of beasts. A graze should be more than enough to kill a regular person while for an awakened, you will have to inflict more damage to them."
His words attracted Brittany. "Wait, she's growing while I'm here just sucking your blood? Why can't I have my own form of advancement. I don't want to be completely useless while Lara's a walking nightmare." Lara looked at the two, her earlier smile vanishing. "You are stronger, it's just that your weave isn't as literal as Lara's. You could try to jump off the roof and check it out." Brittany's eyes turned into slits. "Are you trying to kill me Andrew?" His silence however insisted that he was serious with his words.
She paused, contemplating about it before looking at Lara. "Why not, if I die then I'll blame you." Her figure vanished back into the house. "You're not actually serious about this Andrew, right?" Lara asked as she neared Andrew before Brittany's figure could be seen on the second floor balcony. Andrew didn't answer as Brittany crossed over the railing, her feet on the edge. 'I can't actually believe that I'm doing something as outrageous as this." She murmured to herself, the breeze brushing her golden hair with a gulp going down her throat.
Beneath her were the pair watching her. 'If it doesn't work then I'm glad this drop isn't high enough to shatter my legs.' With that reassurance she put power into her legs and jumped off the balcony.
*Whoosh*
*Bam*
After her figure momentarily glided through the air, she came crashing down to the ground and using her legs alone, she came out unscathed. "Wow! I can't believe that I'm okay from that! I have to try from the third floor then." Her figure quickly heading back into the house while Lara was baffled with what she saw. The image of Brittany crashing to the ground, face first didn't happen. 'So it would seem that she's more physical unlike me.'
She concluded as she saw Brittany jump of unrestrained from the third floor and onto the ground, this time on one of her knees.
*Bam*
"That time I felt a sting but nothing I can't handle." She paused, her focus on Andrew. "Does this mean that I'll become a vampire like those on tv? I mean I suck your blood already but still." His hands pocketed, his tone flat. "To an extent however once you grow stronger, you should be able to lift far more and jump from greater heights however given your weave limits, you will face similar hindrances as well before you get strong enough."
Her brows furrowed. "Well I'm outside right now and the sun is out and yet I'm not withering away." Her tone filled with sarcasm and conviction. "You'll understand later on." He turned to face Lara. "It's time for your practice. With how your aim has gotten, you should be able to hunt on your own now."
Brittany recalling something halted the two. "I came here to ask if you could help my father, he's been having a fever and it's not going down. I was wondering if you could use your blood and help him." Andrew's unhurried answer came, not what Brittany wished to hear. "No." His figure making his way to the front of the house where the car was waiting for him. "What do you mean no?" Her brows furrowed. "Giving him my blood would complicate matters between me and your father. He would be able to see the black strands exuding from my body."
It was when he brought it up that it hit Brittany. Something she didn't look much into now attracted her attention. "And? What's so dangerous about that?" His figure got into the driver seat and Lara on the passenger next to him. "You are aware that I am one of the three creators for the weavers so I want you to ask yourself what your father would do with this information once he knows." A silence momentarily lasting before Andrew turned on the ignition.
"Get in the car, there's another way to aid his fever." Brittany's frown changed into a smile as she got into the back of the car before driving off.
. . .
"Your identity card." An officer with his hand out asked Andrew who handed over his identity card. Once scanning, a frown took over the officer's face before looking back at Andrew. "I'm going to ask you to step out of the vehicle as well as any other people that may be in the car with you." The officer's tone now stern stepping back. Andrew complied and reached into his coat. "Keep your hands in the air, you're one of the escapees from the precinct. You will be taken back into custody and have your case resumed!"
Andrew however went on with his actions and revealed a hard shell case, similar to those for eye wear. But much to the surprise of the officer, it wasn't glasses but three scalpels that gleamed in his hand. "You are require-" The officer was cut off as a soundless whizz of one of the scalpel slit his throat. The other two automatically going for the other two officers who tried to reach for their guns but failed leaving the checkpoint empty.
Wiping the scalpels with a piece of cloth, he put them back in the case and went back to his car. "You-You just killed them!" Lara's tone horrified while Brittany at the back had her smile. "When do I get to kill people I don't like seeing?" Her playful tone contrasting with Lara's who was now hyperventilating. Andrew offered no words to the two ladies before going back to his driving.
. . .
"He's here." Brittany said as she entered her father's bedroom and behind her was Andrew. Callahan who was half asleep jolted himself wide awake to look at the same person who nearly killed him and kidnapped her daughter. Andrew reached into his coat once more and produced a small black vial and poured the contents into Callahan's mouth. "Mpphhh!!!" Callahan soured his face, unsure of what Andrew gave him but the contents were already in his mouth before he could protest.
"Gah! I can't believe that you forced me to swallow something like that! What was that?!" His glare shot at Andrew who was already preparing to leave. "Dad! Your fever's dropping!" Brittany who was next to him flashed an ear to ear grin, feeling Callahan's forehead with the back of her palm. "I don't know but you won't believe this! Andrew just killed three police officers at a checkpoint with his scalpels in a matter of seconds!"
Callahan failed to get his answers as Andrew had already left. "Next time try to get him to at least say what he's doing so I won't grow suspicious of him!" His glare now morphing into apprehension. "I can't force him to talk dad. Only push and prod till I can't."
. . .
'I still can't believe that he killed them!' Lara who was downstairs in the lobby was looking at hr shaking hands. She recalled the moment vividly, the gleam of the scalpels which was paired up with the croaks of the officers shortly after. Blood sprayed all over the tarmac and tents before the air fell silent and Andrew made his way back into the car. 'He really doesn't care who he kills, if it slows him down, he won't hesitate. Does he not have an ounce of regret of what he did?'
Her face grimacing as she recalled Andrew's expressionless face. 'Looks like he has killed hundreds or even thousands for him to be so calm about killing.'A voice echoed in her ears that made her figure wince. "Let's go, We're running late." It was Andrew, at the exit waiting for her. Her breathing grew shallower, her steps uncertain as she got closer and closer to him.
"You'll have to get used to the sight of blood and death Lara. A requirement for you to live in this new world." His words sending chills all over her body before she was led to the car and driving off the Voss estate.
