"Whoa—this kid actually dares to talk to Ren Ti like that?"

"Kingler, prepare for battle!"
"Kige!"
A red-shelled, white-legged crab appeared, its mismatched pincers radiating menace.

"Kingler—first strike! Hydro Pump!"
"Quick Attack!"
A spiraling torrent of high-pressure water blasted forward.
But Rapidash had already leapt aside, streaking forward like a meteor of light, rapidly closing the distance.

Ren Ti narrowed her eyes. She hadn't expected Rapidash to be this fast and chose to fire again at close range.
"Agility!"
"Lop…"
Rapidash's eyes locked onto the incoming attack. With nimble hoofwork, it dodged again.
With its Run Away Ability and overwhelming speed advantage, slipping through move coverage was effortless.
"Kingler, use—"
"Game over."
Ace's voice cut in sharply.
"Take Down!!"
Whoosh—BANG!!
In its Agility-boosted state, Rapidash slammed into Kingler head-on.
"Kige!!"
Kingler was sent flying, its underside completely exposed.
"Horn Drill!"
Rapidash's horn glowed with brilliant white light, rapidly extending like a blade. It pierced straight through Kingler's shell.
"Finish it—Stomp, then Horn Drill!"
"Hee-haw!"
Rapidash reared up and slammed down hard.
Kingler, just barely trying to rise, was crushed again—then skewered cleanly as the horn spun at high speed.
"Ow…"
With a final cry, Kingler collapsed unconscious, spiral eyes spinning.
"…."
Only after the battle ended did Ren Ti finally snap back to reality.
She stared at Ace in disbelief.
"You… you're not a new Trainer, are you?"
"That's right. I am new." Ace smiled brightly.
"I'm just very passionate about taking down Big Sisters—so I always perform exceptionally well~"
He looked straight at her, mischief dancing in his eyes.
Aya's eyes sparkled.
As a ninja, she worshipped strength—and Ace had just displayed Trainer skills even beyond her own.
"Haa…"
Ren Ti exhaled deeply, her chest rising and falling.
The phrase exceptionally well triggered several dangerous associations in her mind.
