Ren let out a soft, beautiful laugh.
The sound was so warm and happy that it made the heavy air in the living room feel light again. He didn't pull away from her. He stayed kneeling on the thick rug, keeping his hands gently resting on her waist. His silver eyes crinkled at the corners as he looked down at her curious face.
"I am a trickster, my sweet bunny," Ren began, his voice a calm, steady whisper. "I didn't have a giant dragon body with scales like Zarek, and I didn't have massive tiger claws like Torian. I couldn't tear a hole through the dark space between worlds using pure muscle."
Roxy tilted her head, completely fascinated. "Then how did you get here?"
"My soul guided me," Ren explained simply. "When I left the beastworld supposedly dead, I didn't fight it with my body. I just let go. My spirit was already tied so deeply to yours because of how much I love you. I became like a tiny metal needle being pulled across the universe by a giant magnet."
