Terra's High Lords Council.
Footsteps echoed through the building as the Minister of the Interior strode furiously towards the High Lords Council, two Cherubs (small robots made from babies) flying behind him, each holding a folder.
The Minister of the Interior was an old man, nearly 200 years old, with half of his body covered in mechanical enhancements, the marks of life-extension surgery clearly visible.
"Clang!"
He pushed open the door to the High Lords Council. At this moment, the High Lords of the High Lords Council were busy at their large desks. Seeing their colleague storm in furiously, they merely glanced up before returning to their work.
"Can any of you tell me why! Why did you allow Li Feng to bring troops back to Terra! Why did that woman in the Imperial Palace popularize computers without my approval! And! Why did you approve all of Li Feng's massive industrial orders?"
Faced with the Minister of the Interior's questions, the atmosphere among the High Lords momentarily solidified, but they showed no great surprise or guilt. One High Lord at the table, the Ecclesiarch, dressed in white robes, slowly put down his documents, looked up, and said in a calm yet authoritative tone:
"Minister of the Interior, please calm yourself."
"You tell me to calm down?"
The Minister of the Interior slammed his hand on the table, his voice filled with anger.
"Don't you know that what Li Feng and Sanguinius are doing is shaking our foundations? Military reforms, industrial innovation, the popularization of unknown dark technology, and even bringing troops back to Terra—these actions will give him too much power in the Imperium, and our authority will be weakened as a result!"
Another High Lord, the Fabricator-General of Mars, sneered, his tone clearly dismissive:
"Lord Minister, are you not aware that the Imperium's current situation demands an increase in industrial capacity and technological popularization more than ever? As for the mass... Teacher Li bringing troops back to Terra, that is what he deserves, not the 'military threat' you imagine. The video of the military operation against the T'au Empire has been ordered to be circulated throughout the Imperium; that is the future!"
"The future!" The Minister of the Interior exclaimed, furious.
"Since when does the Imperium need an unknown person to tell it about the future? The High Lords Council determines the future direction of the Imperium; this is the ancestral charter!" (Malcador: Is it my fault~)
At this moment, the Grand Master of the Officio Assassinorum gently coughed, raising his hand to signal for quiet. He was a burly old man, his face covered in wrinkles, his semi-mechanized body emitting a cold sheen.
He said unhurriedly:
"Minister of the Interior, your concerns are not unfounded, but the Imperium is at an unprecedented crossroads of crisis and transformation. Lord Li Feng and Miss Sanguinius are not only bringing reform but also vitality and faith. Their actions may be an opportunity for us to revitalize the Imperium."
"Opportunity?" The Minister of the Interior sneered, "Or inviting a wolf into the house?"
The Ecclesiarch was silent for a moment, his gaze sharp:
"If you truly have questions about what Lord Li Feng and Miss Sanguinius are doing, then propose an objection! But please don't forget! He is the 'friend of the emperor' and the new 'Imperial Prince'! He is just like the founder of the High Lords Council, Lord Malcador! We can suspect his ambition, but we cannot deny his trust from the Emperor and the achievements he has made so far."
The Minister of the Interior's face was grim, as if he still wanted to argue. At this moment, one of the Cherubs flew forward, handing a folder to the table, its mechanized voice saying coldly and emotionlessly:
"This document contains all of Li Feng's recent activity records, including industrial plans, technology popularization measures, and detailed reports on military deployments."
