"How are you feeling?" Eugene asked his dad while they were in the gazebo after the luncheon.
"I'm...I'm fine..."
Perhaps because he was getting excited after a long time, Ian ended up eating too much—including the cake—and became nauseous instead. And by too much, it was still less than what Hannah ate. How he could give birth to a glutton like Eugene, no one knew.
Thankfully, he didn't have to throw up. After washing his face, walking around, and eating a sour candy, his complexion had improved.
Perhaps, subconsciously, he also felt overwhelmed being surrounded by a lot of people. The excitement from talking about his son...no, the excitement from talking about something, someone he loved, and had other people pay attention to was something new, something exhilarating.
Ian exhaled slowly; despite his rather pale complexion, a smile never left his lips. "It was...it was fun," he told his son. "I've...forgotten how fun it is to be surrounded by such kind people..."
