"Another number..." Eugene muttered as he stared at his dad's text.
The day Elliot reported the situation to him, his dad texted him with a simple 'K', which Eugene presumed was a reply to his letter. Okay--either telling his son that he was fine, or saying that he confirmed the message and was indeed still preparing for the divorce.
The texts after that, however, consisted of one or two letters, as well as two numbers. Something like A08, U11, R93, and so on. Of course, it was hidden inside a list of groceries, as usual, but it was easy to spot because it was always accompanied by a plant--either lavender, violet, bluebell, pine, or even clover.
These capital letters and numbers weren't there before the single 'K' text, so it couldn't be nothing. Was it some kind of code? He still couldn't make sense of it, so he just jotted it down in his journal until it made sense.
