Chapter 14 - Missing

'What I saw left me in complete horror, as though a nightmare had clawed its way into reality- 'it's, it's…'

It was nothing, Jenna saw absolutely nothing- Jay was missing, not knowing how it happened or where he had scurry off to drove her crazy, she felt worried calling out in pain, Hal had heard her from below. He shook his nerves and climbed up the stairs to see what was amiss, he slowly moved at his own pace, when he finally reached Jenna, he saw her- knees folded back crying on the floor.

"Ha, Jenna dear…"

He didn't need her to explain why she was crying- the empty room told him all he needed to know, all he could do in that moment was curdle and soothe her softly, he lowered himself beside her, arms wrapping slow and firm around her shaking shoulders. She became more tearful and crumbled gripping his forearm so hard her knuckles went pale.

So she told everything to Grey, how Grandpa Hal's shop was attacked, how people died and that he went missing for six days after Jay.

He thought back at the way she burst into the room tossed her bag down and lunged at him, Grey's face twisted a frown as his body shock in terror, his expression dimmed 'so this was what Mom faced, while I was gone.'

'Dammit.'

SYSTEM; Warning!!...

Grey shifted his gaze in curiosity, his eyes widened in shock at interfaces red warning glow, jaws literally dropping.

"What's wrong?" Jenna Asked worriedly, "by the way, Grey darling! Where had you been for the past six days?"

Her eyes burned- in anger, "you gave mommy quiet the scare." But Grey mind was preoccupied his gaze fixed on the terrifying notice on the interface, his mind going through multiple scenarios- thinking of what he just saw and how it had occurred.

The nurses around whispered, Jenna with unease studied his face, "Told you something like this would happen you fool." Law added. Thought flooded his mind along with the side chatter ringing on his ears, at that moment Grey knew he was just a twelve years old- he turned his head left. A metallic bin sat beside the bed, no one in the room could have predicted.

The sound of him retching broke the room open.

He became Nauseous as he hurled in agony and overwhelming grief, his gaze a bit shaken.

The room snapped silent at the sound of Grey in tears- his emotions swelled as he let everything out, his mind, repeatedly clashing over and over with deadly monsters, how the sword felt on his grip. His hands were shaky, his face became hot. Law's voice went silent, Jenna moved in to console him, the two nurse signed as they stepped out, giving them space.

Later that day Grey got discharged, the nurses checked thoroughly to make sure he was fully recovered- to their surprise he was doing even better than before, his muscles has become more bulged and refined. He was young but they knew most hunters didn't even posses an ounce of his energy. Jenna's lingered on him closely as he stood topless, while been examined by a doctor.

"Grey, darling you didn't have those before," pointing at his warrior's sculpted frame. "Ummm! cores of steel." She teased.

His face flushed red as he stared down, "Ha… ha mommm!! What do you mean?" he wore a puzzled look in embracement. "Don't lie to mommy you secretly went out to train all this while, didn't you!"

He became silent for a moment, "Umhm! I'm done with the examination," the doctor broke the silent with a clear of his throat, "You can go home with your mother now." He also stated that the reason he threw up earlier was probably due to stress and shock, he's fine now as he raised his mustache.

Grey settled- putting on the clothes Jenna brought for him, he changed out the patient gown, and then put on his casual getup- from blue top with white strings the sewing through the neck, to knickers and then sandals, 'Ha this really suits me! Out here I can't really put on combat robes or don in high class attire.' He signed, and was now ready to go home; Jenna was waiting outside the room, her body leaned on the door, she felt a nudge at the other end of it.

"Oh!! Are you done?" she asked letting the door slid open, "yeah, we can go now!" he turned to her, they moved through the walk towards a gravitational platform- flat mechanism that were created using gravity as the source, they were revered in big buildings were hunters work or popular hospitals like the one Grey got admitted to. They quickly reached the ground, "We have to check you out now, just like the way Grandpa Hal would check out his customer's groceries." She chuckled, as she walked along with Grey towards a clerk, Grey grumbled as dragged his feet, his face heated slightly.

They were several clerks processing admissions and discharges, but they went to the clerk who had checked Grey in on his first day.

"Seems you're revved up and raring to go!" A man with brown hair neatly swept back, a few strands falling over one eye, putting on the casual business black suit and trousers with white long-sleeved on the inside and wear wearing a faint, simple smile. Grey faltered at the unfamiliar greeting, "Oh! Thi…this is Victor, he checked you in while you were unconscious." She introduced informally. "Good to meet your acquaintance, I'm Victor Bennett," he spoke with a smooth voice.

"The first time you came in hear you were unconscious so you don't know me." He said not disrespectful just slow paced, that it was rather pleasant to hear

"Yeah he's been keeping me company most of the times, while I wait for visiting hours." Law and Grey frowned as if grumbling- Law for reasons unknown, and Grey could care less at the time because for him- it was self loathing and guilt. He felt ashamed- His eyes glued to the floor, "nice to meet you too, I'm Greyson Lucas," he turned at Jenna, then back at Victor as his eyes lingered on him…

"And thanks."

Jenna waved as they both walked home- existed the building through the busy doors quickly.

They soon reached their apartment- in front of the building neighbors greeted them and congratulated Grey on getting a scholarship to go to the prestigious hunter academy- new had already travelled, Grey had gain scholarship to attend the hunter academy, an institute where the training infrastructure was sparse and the cost of attendance was a quiet, persistent impossibility for families like theirs. He smiled knowing he was one lucky few- out in the outskirts of the city where they had trekked from it wasn't easy for a working mother of two, let alone sending them to the hunter academy.

Jenna smiled was overjoyed and Grey he was just proud, with a faint smile circling his face.
