CHAPTER 56 Call of the Earth and the Great Wrath of Soil

The main wall of Nabhgadh was now just a dream of dust. Where once a fort of magical stones stood, now only a pile of debris remained. Between the smoke and ash, black shadows were crawling, like a giant insect emerging from its egg. Akshansh body lay in that debris. Like a broken statue.

Step back. Toward the rampart.

A soldier warning cut off in a harsh scream. Black smoke was coming from his throat. Not even a voice, just a whistling sound of air.

Then, on the peak of the debris pile, a figure emerged.

It was Anvay.

The soles of his boots crunched the debris stones. His eyes were fixed on the pit where Akshansh lay. No, where his childhood lay. Everything he had lost. Mother Dharaaya touch. Father Vayansh smile. Those childhood fights where Nirag was his closest. Everything passed before his eyes.

Then in his ears echoed that voice. Nirag. But not Nirag. Andhak Void.

Do you want to see. What your parents felt when they died.

Something inside Anvay did not break. It exploded.

It was not pain. It was fire. It was not anger. It was an earthquake of revenge.

He spread both his hands. Not slowly. With a force as if someone was flapping wings. His palms hit the ground.

Nirag.

His voice did not travel in the air. It ran under the ground. Stones screamed. Earth shook.

He closed his eyes.

First element. Earth.

He remembered his mother. Dharaaya. Her smile that always remained warm and steady like the earth. He felt that the entire ground of Nabhgadh was breathing his breath. Every stone, every crack, every particle. Was his part.

Thud thud thud.

The entire ground in front of the palace cracked. Huge stones flew in the air. No, rose. As if the earth had stretched out its hands. A whirlwind of dust and soil rose and wrapped around Anvay. A living, breathing armor.

The shadow soldiers moving toward him suddenly stopped. The earth under their feet grabbed them. As if someone had grown roots in their legs.

The dust cleared.

What stood in front made Nirag laughter stop.

Anvay was no longer a human. He was an explosion of earth.

He had taken the form of an earth golem by gathering soil and stone around him. Height more than fifteen feet, body made of black granite and shining marble. Veins of earth were throbbing at every joint. Brown golden fire was coming from his eyes. The anger of the earth.

Andhak Void, Anvay voice was now like stones crashing. Today you have challenged the soil that raised you. Now this same soil will become your great wrath.

He swung his huge stone fist in the air. Not slowly. With a jerk.

Thud.

The fist fell on the ground. A ten foot wide crack appeared where it hit. Hundreds of shadow soldiers disappeared into that crack. No screams came. Just a whisper, as if ash flew in the air.

Anvay was a walking mountain. Every step shook the ground. He moved straight toward Nirag chariot.

Nirag opened his third eye. Black. Emotionless. A thin ray came out. Void spear.

Anvay raised his left hand. Soil flew and became a thick, rocky shield.

Chitt.

The ray hit the shield. And scattered. Only a black mark remained on the shield, slowly dissolving into the soil.

Anvay was now very close to Nirag. He grabbed Nirag chariot with his huge hands. The black smoke horses of the chariot began to struggle.

Now. Come down.

He threw the chariot in the air. The chariot flew ten feet up, then hit the ground. Crumbling, spewing black smoke.

Nirag jumped out of it. For the first time, panic showed on his face, but disappeared quickly.

Varunya, his voice became sharp. Stop him.

Varunya stepped forward. Her blue eyes met Anvay brown fire. She drew her black sword. But did not strike. Just stood.

Anvay stone hand stopped in the air. Get out of the way, Varunya. Today this traitors blood will become the tilak of this soil.

Varunya lowered her sword.

The earthquake inside Anvay rose again. She killed them. And you came to protect her.

He raised his hand again. This time to push Varunya away.

Then.

Second element. Air.

Anvay took a deep breath. Long, deep. The air around him changed shape.

Small pieces of debris flew in the air. Then bigger stones. Then a whole cloud of dust. A swirling, cutting air circle.

He turned his hand. And that air circle moved straight toward Nirag. There were screams in the air. No, not screams. The sound of stones being cut.

Nirag again released a ray from his black eye. But this time Anvay was ready.

He made a wall of soil with his left hand, and made a spear of air with his right.

The ray hit the wall. The wall broke, but Anvay air spear had already hit Nirag shoulder.

Ah.

Nirag stepped back. A deep cut on his shoulder. Not blood, black smoke came out.

But Nirag was not going to give up.

He joined his hands. And gathered all his energy into a void sphere. That sphere swirled in the air, swallowing everything, moving toward Anvay.

Anvay mixed both elements.

He raised a huge stone from the ground. And threw it into the swirling air circle. The stone spun in the air, grew faster, and hit the void sphere.

Thud.

No sound. Just an echo of void. Then a flash. White, blue, black. And then. Silence.

Both attacks were destroyed.

But Nirag was watching for an opportunity.

He distracted Anvay. A fake attack toward Varunya. Anvay turned his hand. To save Varunya.

At that moment, Nirag turned his void energy into a thin, needle like spear. And struck it exactly at the joint of Anvay stone armor where his real body was. Right in the middle of the chest.

Crack.

That huge stone giant began to crack. Cracks spread from top to bottom. Anvay real body emerged from the debris. He flew in the air and fell ten feet away.

He could not get up straight. A black mark was on his chest. Small, but deep. No blood was coming from it. Just a cold emptiness spreading.

Nirag slowly walked toward him. The same hollow smile returned to his face.

Fool. Soil can never defeat void. And air. Air is just a dream.

Anvay raised his eyes. His gaze met not Nirag, but Varunya. Varunya just did one thing. Closed her eyes.

Above, on the rampart, Agni and Aksh watched all this. Flames were coming from Agni fist. But he was burning. With his own helplessness.

The second pillar of Nabhgadh had also fallen.
