Chapter 25 A Fathers Cataclysm
A terrible heavy silence hung over the battlefield The air no longer carried the scent of iron but the sharp sweet stench of blood and death mixed into the earth The corpses of soldiers lay all around Some frozen in their final agony and some already still Crows circled in the sky and their cawing sounds made this silence even more horrifying
Neer and Agni were shattered by the probable death of their son Neer sat on his knees and in his hands were those pieces of Nirag and Anvay clothes that he had found He had pressed those shreds to his chest as if they still held the warmth of his children Tears streamed from his eyes A continuous quiet flow that trickled down his cheeks and gathered at his chin and then dripped onto the earth
Agni watched and saw that wherever Neer tears fell small crystals of ice formed on the ground This sight was unnatural Cold freezing on hot blood soaked soil Agni was astonished He slowly raised his finger to place it on Neer shoulder to comfort him Just then
A blue aura began emanating from Neer body
This was no ordinary glow It was an intense profound otherworldly blue light bursting from every pore of his being as if the ocean inside him was boiling over The aura was so powerful and energetic that it shoved Agni backward with a jolt He stumbled and fell bracing himself on his elbows and his eyes were blinded
Neer rose slowly His blue eyes which were always calm like a deep lake were now glowing like a fierce storm They held a mixture of pain rage and a destructive power He tied the shreds of Nirag and Anvay clothes to his waist like a sacred thread He clenched his fists so tightly that his joints creaked and with a sharp thunderous scream he shouted
RAVITEJ
The scream tore through the air and shattered the silence of death Its echo bounced back from the hills like an announcement of doomsday
Agni scrambled back seeing this form of Neer His breaths stopped And then Neer body began to change It turned into a transparent blue orb of water The orb floated in the air and within it Neer figure could be seen blurry like someone drowning in the depths of a stormy ocean
Agni was even more astonished He screamed Neer Neer But the orb of water rose into the air and flew swiftly away disappearing into the sky like a blurry blue line
Agni raised his hand towards Neer and screamed NEER
But Neer had flown far away somewhere in the air
Agni dropped to his knees His tears began to flow Hot red tears of fire that left burning streaks on his cheeks as they fell and turned into small flaming gases upon hitting the earth He collapsed right there like a broken pillar
Just then the sound of horse hooves and chariot wheels was heard on the battlefield Horses and chariots were approaching at great speed Agni raised his neck and looked
From the front Prince Akshansh was coming on a golden chariot and beside him Aksh and Kalpit were riding on horses Behind them was a vast army with armor and flags in the blue white colors of Nabhgadh The chariot stopped Akshansh Aksh and Kalpit ran to Agni and were stunned to see the scene there
The entire battlefield was strewn with the corpses of soldiers The whole battlefield was drenched in blood Like a vast red black painting Akshansh looked at Aksh and Kalpit and then all three dropped to their knees
Akshansh lowered his gaze and said and his voice carried deep guilt Margdarshak Agni Forgive us We were delayed in coming
Agni looked at Akshansh and spoke and his voice was a hollow broken echo Everything is over
Akshansh was stunned to see the tears dripping from Agni eyes Agni said again Everything is over Akshansh Everything is over Nirag and Anvay His voice trembled He said again Nirag and Anvay are no more
The sword slipped from Akshansh hand and clattered on the ground Agni screamed and wept Everything is over Everything is over And he kept weeping His agony his scream his piteous voice echoed across the entire battlefield This was the wail of a father whose echo made even the bones shiver
Aksh and Kalpit looked at each other and then both came to Agni and said Margdarshak compose yourself Pull yourself together
Agni kept weeping and only said one thing Neer And saying this he fell unconscious
Aksh and Kalpit lifted Agni and laid him in Akshansh chariot Then they took him with them to Nabhgadh
Some time later Agni regained consciousness He sat up with a scream Neer
Then he looked around He was lying on a bed in a chamber of some royal palace The room had blue silk curtains and the air smelled of fragrant incense and herbs Just then Akshansh came running
Agni looked at Akshansh and everything came back to him He got up from the bed and started to leave Just then Akshansh stopped him from getting up and said Margdarshak where are you going It is not right for you to go anywhere from here right now
Agni looked at Akshansh and said No Akshansh I must find Neer And he got up to leave
Just then King Uday and Queen Urmila arrived there Agni saw them and stopped right there King Uday looked at Agni and said King Agni please calm down It is not right for you to go anywhere right now
Agni said But King Neer
The King cut him off and said We have sent our spies and soldiers They will find King Neer Do not worry Right now your rest is essential The physician has given some herbs and asked you to rest
Agni kept looking at the King The King and Queen left from there Akshansh looked at Agni and said Margdarshak please rest As soon as any news comes I will inform you immediately And Akshansh left from there and latched the chamber door from outside
Outside Aksh and Kalpit were standing Akshansh said You two
Kalpit said to Akshansh Prince as far as I know Margdarshak Agni can heal himself completely His wounds and his weakness heal very quickly Then how is all this happening
Akshansh looked at Kalpit and said Yes you spoke the truth Kalpit But this injury is not external or physical It is internal The wounds of the mind are more painful than the wounds of the body And Margdarshak Agni is struggling with that very wound It will take some time for his wound to heal
Kalpit nodded yes Akshansh looked at Aksh and Kalpit and said You two go and search for Margdarshak Neer We must find him by any means
