Chapter 369: Possessed by the God of Luck
A dozen kilometers northwest of Konoha, in the 'mysterious' underground base.
Masahiko sensed the surging chakra inside Itomi's body in front of him. His expression was solemn, and his heart was filled with endless worry: "Is this my retribution for not seeing Itomi off back then?"
"Sensei! What exactly is this situation ahhh!" Itomi had a conflicted face, looking down at the young man in his arms: "Who is this guy? Why am I holding him?"
Masahiko took a deep breath, calmed down, and revealed a smile: "Good disciple, that is Sensei's enemy. Hit him hard with a punch, okay?"
Itomi was startled: "Oh? Of course!"
He agreed verbally, but his actions were different. His feet shattered the ground, and with a swish, he disappeared.
Masahiko looked up at the blue sky and white clouds showing through the hole above his head, and sighed slightly: "This unlucky child."
He also flickered, leaving this underground base through the hole Itomi had shattered, and appeared opposite Itomi.
"Sensei! I wanted to hit him, but my body won't listen to me!" Itomi shouted loudly, his movements not stopping. He turned sideways, swung his arm, and fiercely threw the young man in his arms out.
"Naive! You think you can run away like this?" Masahiko ignored Itomi, his hands forming seals: "Sage Mode - Open! Sage Art - Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Jutsu!"
A giant white cone-shaped crystal shot out from Masahiko's palm, chasing after the rapidly flying away young man. To prevent Itomi from intercepting, Masahiko used the Dust Release, which taijutsu could not defend against, for the first time in a long while.
Itomi's actions, however, exceeded Masahiko's expectations. He used the Body Flicker to arrive behind the young man later but getting there first, kicking the young man in the back of the heart. This made the young man elevate and accelerate, dodging the Dust Release. Itomi, however, only had time to turn slightly, and his left arm was grazed by Masahiko's Dust Release.
"Is he complaining that his injuries aren't heavy enough?" Masahiko was stunned. Although the young man avoided being hit directly by the Dust Release and accelerated his escape speed, this kick from Itomi... looking at the amount of blood the young man spat out, he probably lost half his life.
"This guy can take a beating, I still need to give him a ruthless follow-up. But an out-of-control Itomi is very troublesome, let's find a way to trap him first!" Seeing the young man fly out of sight, Masahiko frowned and used the Body Flicker, appearing in front of Itomi.
"Sensei! Be careful!" Itomi's left arm was still slowly recovering, but his intact right arm rapidly generated scorching flames from friction with the air. He threw a punch, landing right on the chest of Masahiko, who neither dodged nor evaded.
Masahiko gritted his teeth, swallowing the blood that reached his mouth. He looked down at Itomi's right fist imprinted on his chest, which seemed to want to punch right through him, and pulled out an ugly smile at the corner of his mouth: "Good disciple, I will deal with you later. First, you will... go in for your master!"
Itomi's figure instantly disappeared; he was thrown into the Eight Trigrams Space by Masahiko.
"Succeeded, I truly am a genius." Masahiko's expression relaxed, and he bit himself to recover his chest, which had been deeply sunken by that punch just now.
A dozen seconds later, Masahiko's sunken sternum finally recovered. He hurriedly used the Body Flicker to chase in the direction the young man was kicked away.
"Thought you could escape by using Edo Tensei on Itomi? The Gate of Death isn't something that can be opened instantly. Fortunately, I made a prompt decision and threw Itomi into... Pfft!!!"
Before Masahiko's muttering could finish, his figure suddenly froze in place, and he sprayed a mouthful of old blood three zhang away.
Itomi appeared in front of Masahiko again. The 'blue light' on his body had turned into a 'red light'. He spoke with a tearful face: "Sensei, I really can't control myself. The Gate of Death still opened. Are you... okay?"
Masahiko sighed, his right hand covering a fist-sized hole on his lower abdomen that was slowly healing: "I underestimated the Eight Inner Gates Formation. The Eight Trigrams Space was actually broken..."
He looked up at Itomi, an optimistic smile appearing on his face again: "Sensei is fine, perfectly fine. That kick of yours just now might have killed that guy. If it didn't kill him, the fall might have. If the fall didn't kill him... maybe there happened to be a wild boar where he landed, and it gored him to death? Aren't all those possible?"
The blood-colored steam on Itomi's body dyed half the sky behind him red. His expression was dejected: "Sensei, I was wrong... But you have to be careful, my body is a bit weird."
Masahiko's expression was grave. Of course he knew Itomi's body was weird. After all, the one summoned as a sacrifice for Itomi was Nakajiki, and Nakajiki was the possessor of the Jashin cult's immortal body.
Although Masahiko had many ways to kill the so-called immortal body, using him as a sacrifice for Edo Tensei was not one of them.
In other words, the person opposite Masahiko now was still Nakajiki, just wearing a limited edition 'Itomi skin'. If it weren't for this, the person summoned by Edo Tensei would just be an empty shell with no blood in their body, naturally unable to burn blood, let alone use the Eight Inner Gates Formation.
"It's better that the body is still Nakajiki's. Otherwise, if it were Itomi himself opening the Eight Gates, I'm afraid I wouldn't even be able to hold my ground..." Masahiko sensed the chakra fluctuation on Itomi's body, which was several times higher than his own, and his expression grew increasingly grave: "Even so, I have to go all out. Shadow Clone - Release! Eight Inner Gates - Sixth... Hmm?!"
Before the Gate of View could be opened, the memories of the shadow clone poured into Masahiko's mind one after another, and he immediately froze in place.
"Is my shadow clone... responsible for providing comic relief?!" Masahiko gritted his teeth.
"Sensei, be careful! It's starting!" Itomi shouted loudly. His left arm, which had been grazed by the Dust Release earlier, finally recovered to its original state. His body turned into an afterimage, rapidly rotating around Masahiko.
The wound on Masahiko's lower abdomen had also completely healed. He frowned, looking down at the crack-filled earth beneath his feet: "Just running around, Itomi is making the earth shake and the mountains sway. I have to move the battlefield, otherwise, after this fight, half of the Land of Fire will be gone... Sixth Gate - Gate of View - Open!"
"This is a continuous taijutsu from speed one to speed five, Sekuzo! Interrupt me! First Step!" Itomi was still able to speak up to remind him.
"Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack!"
Masahiko's expression was grave. Countless fist shadows broke through the air, clashing with the glowing white rectangular air cannon fired by Itomi.
The two were locked in a stalemate for a moment, intersected with each other, and finally exploded with a loud bang.
That place seemed to become the only thing between heaven and earth. Thousands of rays of light emanated out, spreading in all directions. Wherever the light reached, there seemed to be a terrifying and invisible wave that turned everything into dust.
Itomi immediately used the Body Flicker to retreat from the impact. Masahiko, however, gritted his teeth, opened his repulsive force, and faced the shockwave, using the Body Flicker to arrive in front of Itomi. He gripped Itomi's left arm tightly with both hands, stopping his second strike.
"Hehe, this time I'm not throwing you into a space, but making a random jump. Let's randomly jump to an uninhabited place to fight!"
In the next second, the environment around the two suddenly changed.
Masahiko revealed a smile: "Hahaha! A boundless sea! It's all water!"
"This is being Possessed by the God of Luck, this wave is secured!"
