Chapter 265 - Chapter 264 Drama Queen

"Daddy, can you tell me a story?" Amy asked, lying on her crib with the Ugly Duckling in her arms, as she turned her head to look at Mai Ge, who was sitting at the table looking at information about the elves.

"Okay, let me think about what story to tell you, Little Amy." Mai Ge put down the documents in his hand, smiled and walked to the bedside to sit down. Usually, the restaurant is busy and Amy often falls asleep before the business is over, so he hasn't told her a story for a few days. He felt a little guilty. After thinking for a while, his eyes lit up and he said, "I'll tell you a story about Snow White Princess, Little Amy."

"Okay, okay!" Amy nodded happily, then asked with some curiosity, "Was Snow White Princess a princess made of snow?"

"No, Snow White Princess is a beautiful princess with skin as white as snow." Mai Ge smiled and shook his head, then began to tell Amy a story: "In a faraway land, there lived a king and queen who longed for a child. So they prayed sincerely to the heavens: 'God! We are a good king and queen, please grant us a child!'

Not long after, the queen gave birth to a lovely little princess. The girl's skin was as white as snow, her cheeks as red as apples, and her hair was jet black and smooth. Therefore, the king and queen named her Snow White..."

Mai Ge slowly recounted the story of Snow White in a slightly deep voice. The innocent and lovely Snow White was nearly killed by the wicked queen, but was taken in by the seven dwarfs and lived a happy life in the forest. However, the queen was still not satisfied and disguised herself as a witch to trick Snow White into eating a poisoned apple...

Amy and the Ugly Duckling listened attentively, sometimes worrying about Snow White's plight, sometimes rejoicing that she received help from others.

"In the end, the prince and Snow White lived happily ever after, while the wicked queen was struck dead by lightning and punished." Mai Ge finished the story, looked at Amy, whose eyes were still bright and showed no signs of sleepiness, reached out and touched her hair, and asked with a smile, "Little Amy, if a stranger offered you an apple, would you still eat it?"

Amy hesitated for a moment, then asked, "If I only eat one bite... will it be okay?"

"Not even a single bite oh. Deadly poison can kill you even with just one bite." Mai Ge shook his head decisively. The little one was quite the foodie, she would take a bite of even a poisoned apple before she would stop.

"Alright, then I won't eat it." Amy nodded slightly, a little disappointed, then looked at Mai Ge with a pitiful expression and asked, "But… Daddy, would you choose a beautiful but wicked queen? Little Amy is scared…"

"Um…" Mai Ge looked at the pitiful Amy, wanting to laugh but also feeling a little sorry for her. He hadn't expected that the first thing the little girl thought of after hearing the story was this. He gently ruffled her hair, smiled and shook his head, saying, "No, Daddy promises not to. Daddy only needs Amy."

"Daddy, you're so good to me." Amy smiled with relief and fell asleep peacefully under Mai Ge's gentle touch.

The Ugly Duckling snuggled into her arms, found a comfortable position, and fell asleep.

"Little one, you have quite a few things to worry about. I hadn't even thought about finding you a stepmother." Mai Ge smiled as he tucked the two little ones into bed, leaned down and kissed Amy's hair, his face full of doting affection. He stood by the bed for a while watching the little ones' sweet sleeping faces before returning to the table to continue looking at the documents.

There is a lot of information, but most of it is about the customs and traditions of the Elven race and some trivial matters. It is probably a bunch of useless information left after the useful information has been filtered out. Some of the information is even more than ten years old.

However, Mai Ge had already retrieved a top-secret document from inside, which was worth the money he paid for the document. After all, not just anyone could know about Sally, and the truly crucial information could perhaps be gradually extracted from Sally. Once they were more familiar with each other, there would be plenty of opportunities.

From this information, Mai Ge did gain something. At least he confirmed one thing: since three years ago, the Elf Princess had been in seclusion with the Tree of Life, never leaving the cave, and no one had even seen her.

"It seems she wasn't involved in that incident back then. Her so-called seclusion was more likely a form of imprisonment without freedom…" Mai Ge collected all the documents, put them back in the bag, opened the wardrobe, placed them in the hidden safe, and then lay back down on the bed.

"What kind of woman would she be?" Mai Ge wondered to himself with some curiosity. Amy's words today had strengthened his resolve to find her biological mother. No matter how good other people are, they are ultimately not the same.

After having a strange dream all night about being whipped, Mai Ge was woken up by his alarm clock early the next morning. He reached out to turn it off, glanced at Amy who was still sleeping soundly and the Ugly Duckling who was hanging pitifully by the bed looking at him, and then got up, picked up the little one and put it back next to Amy's pillow. He didn't know how the little ones slept, but the Ugly Duckling was kicked off the bed every morning.

"Meow~" The Ugly Duckling meowed gratefully at Mai Ge. Apart from Amy, the little one was only really close to him, which was probably related to the fact that he would feed it all sorts of delicious food.

Mai Ge washed up and went downstairs. He had taken a day off yesterday due to an unexpected task from the system, so he was going to be busy with business today. Unlike other restaurant owners, he was quite dedicated. Rather than getting pleasure from teasing customers, he preferred to see the satisfied expressions on their faces as they enjoyed the food.

Because there was an extra dish on the menu, the preparation time for the ingredients became even more limited. Fortunately, Mai Ge's physical condition had improved, and the things he ate everyday could be considered high grade nutritional supplements. Even if the system didn't restore his physical condition, his body was getting better everyday, nourishing his damaged meridians and moisturizing the flesh and blood that had been eroded by magic. His strength was steadily increasing.

At six o'clock, Mai Ge went upstairs to wake Amy up. The little one opened her eyes for a moment, but immediately closed them again when she heard footsteps. She whispered, "I ate a poisoned apple. I need a kiss to wake up."

"Ah, my dear princess, your Daddy has come to save you." Mai Ge, seeing Amy suddenly become a drama queen, quickly got into character as well, walked to the bedside, leaned down, and gently kissed Amy's hair.

"Hehe!" Amy opened her eyes wide, reached out and hugged Mai Ge's neck, kissed him on the cheek, and said happily, "I don't want a prince, I just want Daddy."
