She grabbed the child's arm with one hand and pushed him into the back seat with the other.
"Sit tight, don't move around."
Then she turned back to her husband's side.
She stood in front of Cora Lowell, her eyes dodging.
"He's been at the hospital all day, the business is completely run by the family, he doesn't bother with it at all, I'm sorry to have embarrassed you."
Cora Lowell shrugged, not bothering to care.
"It's fine."
She didn't truly not care; she had long learned to bury her emotions deep inside.
Some things, you become numb to after hearing them too much.
Laura Rhys opened her mouth, wanting to say more, but no sound came out.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps came from afar.
She jerked her head up, her face changing instantly.
"Cora... can I call you that?"
