Chloe stepped out of her ward slowly, her mind still tangled in everything that had just happened.
Her heart raced with nervous energy. She had no idea how Summer would react.
'Will she accept William?' Her chest tightened.
She made her way down the quiet corridor and soon reached the ICU. She found Summer there, watching Gideon, through the glass panel.
Her back was stiff. The silence was heavy around her.
Chloe's chest tightened at the sight. She stepped toward her and peered inside through the glass panel.
Gideon lay on the bed, motionless. Tubes and wires surrounded him, his face pale, marked with scratches and bruises.
For a moment, Chloe couldn't move. This was the man who had walked into danger without hesitation. And now he lay here, fighting for his life.
Her throat tightened. Slowly, she called her sister, "Summer…"
