A vast open sea filled the world around us as we set sail to find new lands. Alex, the captain of our ship, was eager for what awaited us in the unknown distance. I, the ship mate, did my best to maintain the ship.
"Look ahead, I see land!" Alex shouted.
"Yeah, land!" I exclaimed.
We jumped off the ship and started to explore the land we found.
"Look over here I see something glowing and flying around in the distance." I said.
"What is it?" Asked Alex.
"It's a fairy!" I said excitedly.
"I'll capture it." Said Alex.
Alex slowly approached the fairy. Hiding himself behind the bushes. Once he was close enough he took a jar and caught the fairy.
"Anna, I caught the fairy. And it looks just like you." Said Alex.
"Wow! I'm just like a fairy." I said.
"We need to be careful and make sure the fairy doesn't get hurt. Let's keep it in the jar so it stays safe." Said Alex.
"Yes, let's keep the fairy safe." I said.
I held onto the jar containing the fairy. I admired the fairy's tiny sparkly features.
"Let's see if we can find any treasure!" said Alex.
Together we searched the forest for a hidden treasure. We climbed mountains and swam across rivers. We thought we would never find the treasure.
"Anna, where do you think the treasure might be?" Asked Alex
"This way I think." I replied.
I walked towards the direction of where I thought the treasure might be and looked around but could not find any. I turned to Alex. He needed to find the treasure. It was his adventure after all.
"Alex, where do you think the treasure might be?" I said.
"I'm not sure." Replied Alex.
"Just give it your best guess." I said.
"It could be over this way." Alex said
"I think you might be right." I said.
We both walked toward the direction of where we thought the treasure might be. As we walked further we saw something shining in the distance.
"Do you see that? I believe it's the treasure!" I said.
"We found the treasure!" Exclaimed Alex.
"Yes Alex you found the treasure!" I cheered.
We started digging through the chest filled with gold and jewels admiring all the shiny objects. Alex found a crown and placed it on my head.
"With this crown you are now a princess Anna." Said Alex.
"I can be a princess now with my friend Angela. And we can all play together in the future." I Said.
Alex turned away. Something seemed to upset him. The illusion of the island and the treasure faded away. We were now standing in the nursery.
"Anna, I'm not sure if I can play with you any more." Said Alex.
"Why not?" I asked.
"My parents said I have to go away to school." Said Alex.
"No, you can't go away" I said as tears started to billow up.
"I don't want to go away, but I have no choice." Said Alex.
He looked melancholy. He didn't want to leave. His home and friends were all here and that was all he needed. I threw myself into his arms as the tears started to flow.
"I'm going to miss you. You are my best friend." I cried.
"I will miss you too Anna." Alex whispered to me.
He held me in his arms as I cried. My tears soaking through his shirt. Shortly my mom came to find me. She was shocked to find me crying.
"Anna what's wrong? Why are you crying?" My mom asked me as she picked me up and held me.
"Alex is leaving to go to school and I won't be able to see him anymore." I said while crying.
"Oh Anna. It will be alright. I know you will miss him." My mother said to comfort me.
Once I had calmed down I said my good bye to Alex. This would be the last time I would see him before he left for school. Alex was to be sent to an all boys boarding school where many nobles sent their sons. It was a right of passage for them. All of their fathers and their father's father had gone to this school. As Alex was heir to the Vis Count title he would go to this school. He should have joined the school at six, but his family had delayed his entrance into the school because little Alex was very attached to his mom and could not handle being separated for long periods of time. Now that he was eight, he showed enough maturity to handle going away for school. He would spend the next eight years there until he would graduate and then enter university at sixteen.
My mother carried me away and we said our goodbyes to the Vis Count and Vis Countess Winter and left for home. When we had arrived home my mother carried me up to my room. She undressed me and changed me into my night gown. When I was laying in bed I looked up to my mother.
"Will I have to go away to school one day?" I asked.
"You will go to school soon but it will be near by and you can stay at home." My mom replied.
I was hoping she would tell me one day I would go to the same school as Alex so I could see him again. Her answer was disappointing. After her reply, she kissed me and wished me good night and left the room for me to sleep and dream.
