Chapter 179 - Big is Good

Jhin accompanied Hitori Gotoh, Nijika, and the others on a stroll around Singapore, visiting the famous Merlion Park and St. Andrew's Cathedral—the two places they were most interested in.

Hitori Gotoh was the same as always. If Jhin wasn't by her side, she absolutely wouldn't step a foot out of the hotel room. Wearing her pink tracksuit even at a time like this, she stood out exceptionally in a foreign land. This resulted in her shrinking into Jhin's embrace for the entire trip. Only when there weren't many people nearby would she poke her head out like a small animal under parental protection, carefully observing the surrounding scenery.

'It's a good thing Jhin is here, otherwise I probably wouldn't see the scenery in crowded places for the rest of my life.'

Hitori Gotoh noticed that in high-traffic areas, Jhin would hold her and find a relatively secluded spot so she could look at the view.

Her boyfriend's detailed and considerate actions made Hitori giggle foolishly, burying her head in his chest to express her affection through spoiling.

Kita Ikuyo was also satisfied this time; she fulfilled her wish to visit tourist spots with everyone from Kessoku Band. The indoor types, Nijika and Ryo, didn't say they lacked stamina and wanted to go back this time either. The excitement of going abroad supported their footsteps as they strolled until nearly evening. If not for their growling stomachs reminding them it was time to eat, they would surely have continued wandering.

"Jhin, what should we do for dinner? Go back to the hotel or find something nearby?"

Jhin hadn't thought of an answer yet when he glimpsed a familiar wisp of red, and his eyes immediately lit up.

Wasn't that the most classic red roadside tent from back home!

Jhin pointed at the restaurant that looked very authentic just by its roadside appearance, named 'Tiandi Hai Pengfei Jingzhou Rice', and said: "Let's go eat at that restaurant!"

"A Chinese cuisine shop? No problem."

"Singapore has them too?"

"They're all over the world, right?"

The five of them arrived at the restaurant and found an empty table to sit at. Jhin glanced at the menu twice and then handed it to the girls: "You guys order. I have a rough idea of what dishes are here."

"It's rare to come to a Chinese restaurant abroad; what should we order?"

Ryo took the plastic-wrapped menu and shook it twice, making a sound like a wobbling metal sheet. Her playfulness aroused, she stopped looking at the menu and used it to fan Nijika nonstop.

Nijika sanctioned this unreliable bassist with an iron fist, snatched the menu, and simply and clearly ordered Egg Fried Rice for both herself and Ryo. Kita Ikuyo ordered a portion of Pan-fried Dumplings and Fried Spring Rolls. When the menu reached Hitori Gotoh's hands, completely not knowing what to order, she gave up thinking and handed the menu back to Jhin.

"Jhin, y-you order for me."

"Mn."

It wasn't that Jhin hadn't thought about ordering some spicy dishes to tease his girlfriend—who asked Hitori Gotoh to always radiate an aura of "I'm easy to bully," making him unable to resist wanting to prank her.

However, having walked outside for most of the day, Bocchi-chan must be tired too, so he better not tease her.

Jhin's few remaining scraps of conscience dispelled the thought of teasing Hitori Gotoh. He ordered Fried Noodles, Fried Chicken Nuggets, and a Coke for her in a very ordinary manner, and asked for Kung Pao Chicken and Yangzhou Fried Rice for himself.

Yes, this restaurant actually had Fried Chicken Nuggets on the menu.

Coincidentally, the four girls including Tamaki Mari also arrived at this restaurant. Dragging their exhausted steps one by one, they took seats at the table next to Jhin's group. While waiting for Shiraishi Yuzuki to order, Miyake Hinata saw Jhin and Hitori Gotoh sticking close to each other and took the initiative to say hello.

"Jhin, you guys are eating here too?"

Jhin turned his head to see the four of them and revealed a gentle smile: "Miyake-san, what a coincidence. It looks like you guys are having fun."

"Mn, it's our first time going abroad, so everything feels fresh everywhere."

"Yuzuki, do they not have Miso Ramen here?"

"No."

"But didn't it say Ramen here?"

"So..." Shiraishi Yuzuki speechlessly explained to Shirase Kobuchizawa: "There is no Miso, but there is Ramen. Do you understand?"

"Huh?" Shirase Kobuchizawa wore an expression that said 'What kind of joke are you making': "Ramen without Miso... then we might as well just all order Egg Fried Rice, and add a portion of Kelp Tofu Soup while we're at it."

"If Kimari and Hinata don't object, that's not impossible."

"It's fine, I have no objections."

"I'm fine too."

They soon regretted this casual choice.

At Jhin's table, Nijika and Ryo's Egg Fried Rice had already been served. Unlike the Egg Fried Rice in their cognition, the portion of this fried rice was massive. Golden rice grains were piled up into a small mountain on the plate; just looking at it made their stomachs and body weight feel the pressure.

"No way... this amount..." Nijika's hand holding the spoon trembled; she didn't have much confidence that she could finish this portion of Egg Fried Rice.

Ryo remained silent, scooping up the fried rice spoon by spoon and eating. For her, a large portion that filled you up was the best kind of cuisine.

Jhin felt that this portion size didn't seem like the kind from a fake Chinese restaurant opened by foreigners. Aside from the restaurant name, everything else was very like a restaurant in China. He stood up, walked into the shop, found the serving auntie who was sitting and cracking melon seeds, and greeted her in Mandarin.

"Excuse me, hello?"

The auntie cracking melon seeds paused her hand movements and looked at Jhin in surprise: "Young man, you're actually Chinese?"

"Yes, Auntie. The decor and dishes here look too much like how they are back home, so I came in to ask."

"You bet. My husband and I started out running a roadside stall. We haven't changed many of the habits from back then."

"Is that so? Then I'll go back to eat first. I wish you better and better business."

"This young man sure knows how to talk." The auntie smiled until her eyes narrowed into slits, and shouted with full vigor towards the kitchen: "Old man, for Table 2's dishes, make the portions generous! They are folks from our hometown!"

"Alright." A steady response came from within the kitchen.

"Thank you, Auntie."

"No need to be polite, no need. Go eat quickly."

Jhin returned to his seat. Not long after, the auntie brought out the rest of their dishes. Following her instructions, the portion size of these dishes was visibly large.

"You young people are all at the age where you're growing, eat more, eat more." After the auntie finished speaking, she cheerfully left with the serving tray.

Kita Ikuyo looked at the twenty Pan-fried Dumplings and ten Fried Spring Rolls in front of her, not knowing where to start.

"Jhin, what did that auntie say?"

"Oh, she said young people growing bodies need to eat more."

"Was she speaking Mandarin just now?"

"Correct, she is also Chinese."

Tamaki Mari listened to the conversation between Jhin and Kita Ikuyo, then looked at the small mountains of Egg Fried Rice in front of Nijika and the others, and swallowed a mouthful of saliva with difficulty: "I say... was us ordering Egg Fried Rice plus Kelp Tofu Soup a bit overestimating our capabilities?"

"I feel that way too..." Just looking at the portion of the Egg Fried Rice, Miyake Hinata felt her stomach was already full.
