When Harry and his two friends started fighting Sirius, there was one person, or rather, one rat, who was particularly happy—that was Pettigrew.
Today was simply too exciting for him.
Just last week, he was on the verge of starving to death, barely clinging to life until Sebastian returned, only to be sent by Harry and his friends to Hagrid for treatment.
But to his complete surprise, he saw Big black dog at Hagrid's hut.
This scared Peter half to death.
Stimulated by fear, his back no longer ached, his legs no longer hurt, and he no longer felt weak and exhausted all over.
His body erupted with infinite energy, and he began desperately searching for a way to escape.
However, Sebastian's cage was too sturdy; he had no chance of escaping whatsoever.
It was fortunate that the cage was sturdy enough, for after he was taken deep into the Forbidden Forest by Sirius, he narrowly escaped death from Sirius's mouth and waited for Harry and his two friends.
Peter's mood fluctuated like riding a flying broomstick.
Therefore, when he saw Harry and his two friends fighting Sirius, he excitedly cheered them on from inside the cage.
"Fight! It would be best if you could beat Sirius's dog brains out!"
Peter didn't believe that Sirius could easily defeat these three children.
Before he was sold to Sebastian by Ron, he had personally witnessed how powerful these three children were.
Especially Harry, that young man grew incredibly fast under Sebastian's training.
In Peter's eyes, Harry's strength was even greater than when their Marauders' group was in school.
Therefore, he had great confidence in Harry and his two friends; he even thought that Sirius might stumble at the hands of these three little guys.
As expected, the most exciting thing happened.
Sirius was defeated and firmly tied to a tree!
Harry also didn't disappoint him; he ignored Sirius's explanations and immediately went for the kill.
He lay on the cage, his eyes gleaming as he stared at Sirius, waiting for his death.
"Excellent! As long as Sirius, the insider, dies, I'll be completely safe."
Just as Peter was about to cheer, the spoiler arrived.
Lupin, transformed into a Werewolf, descended from the sky, blocked Harry's attack, and saved Sirius's life.
Damn Lupin, how did he get here?!
And in Werewolf form, isn't he afraid of scaring the children in the school?
No public decency!
Peter cursed inwardly, but he still obediently lay in the corner of the cage, afraid of being noticed by the other party.
However, Lupin's first sentence made him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
"Where is that person?"
Was "that person" referring to him?
Damn it, how did Lupin know about his existence?!
Peter didn't dare to breathe, and he was plunged into deep despair.
Compared to Peter's anxiety and despair, Harry and his two friends were deeply confused.
Harry stared blankly at Lupin, not knowing why he blocked his attack, nor what his words meant.
"Sirius," Lupin ignored everyone's thoughts, just staring intently at Sirius, as if trying to see through his thoughts, "Why didn't he show up before? Is it that..."
Lupin paused, then said word by word, "You changed the Secret Keeper without telling me?"
Changed the Secret Keeper?
What are you talking about?
"Professor Lupin," Harry demanded loudly, "What is this..."
Before he finished speaking, Harry's words were completely stuck in his throat.
He saw that after Black nodded, Lupin tore the ropes off him and freed that scoundrel from his restraints.
Harry felt his whole body tremble, not from fear, but from anger.
"Professor Lupin," he roared at Lupin, "I always trusted you so much!"
"Why?"
"Why help Black?!"
"Harry," Lupin turned around and sighed softly, "There's actually a misunderstanding here."
"I originally firmly believed that Sirius was the one who betrayed your parents. But tonight, I saw Pettigrew's name on the marauder's map."
"I started to suspect that Sirius was not the Secret Keeper, but that Peter betrayed your parents."
Peter?
How is this possible?!
Harry could no longer hold back and roared in rebuttal, "Liar!"
"Last year on my birthday, you personally told me that Sirius betrayed my parents, leading to their deaths."
"I remember clearly, after you said it, Aunt Mia, Professor Swan, and Hagrid, none of them refuted it."
"And you also personally told me that Pettigrew died, killed by this man right here."
Thinking of the scene from last year's birthday, Harry's eyes filled with tears. He no longer paid attention to Lupin, but looked at Sirius with hatred.
Seeing Harry's hateful gaze, Sirius looked pained, but forced himself to explain.
"Harry, Peter and I temporarily swapped Secret Keeper identities. For secrecy, only I, your father, and Peter knew about it."
"And Peter isn't dead," Sirius looked at the rat in the cage with a murderous gaze, "I've already caught him!"
Scabbers?!
Looking at the motionless rat, as if dead, Harry felt a little dazed.
That's right, no one had considered the possibility that Scabbers was an Animagus.
No wonder Big black dog's eyes were full of hatred when he looked at Scabbers at the time.
Hermione also realized the answer; she put her hand over her wide-open mouth, her face full of disbelief.
Ron also understood what Sirius was trying to convey.
"You're not saying Scabbers is Pettigrew, are you? How is that possible? It's my pet, I've had it for many years."
"Scabbers is really pitiful. It used to be bullied by Fred and George at home, then targeted by Hermione's cat at the beginning of this semester, then abused by Professor Swan's experiment, and now it's even being slandered as the culprit who caused Harry's parents' deaths."
"This world is truly ridiculous; everyone wants to target my rat."
Subconsciously, Ron felt that Sirius was telling the truth, but he simply couldn't accept the answer.
He had lived intimately with Scabbers for many years, eating together, bathing together, and even going to the toilet together.
Normally, he would secretly confide his emotions and grievances to Scabbers, after all, it was just a rat and wouldn't reveal his innermost thoughts to others.
Suddenly, someone told him that this rat, who had accompanied him for many years, was actually a middle-aged man.
This fact was simply unacceptable!
Could it be that he really treated Pettigrew as a pet and hugged him to sleep for many years?!
Thinking that Black had also transformed into a dog and played with him, Ron immediately felt that he could no longer deceive himself.
Suddenly, a wave of nausea surged in his heart, and Ron bent over directly, vomiting profusely.
Why was he so unlucky? Out of three pets, two of them were transformed humans.
It was too disgusting!
After vomiting, he looked up, just about to say something, when he suddenly felt a cold chill crawl up his spine, instantly spreading throughout his body.
He felt as if he was frozen, not daring to move, only able to point his trembling finger shakily behind everyone.
"I think we should leave here first and discuss the Scabbers issue in a safer place."
