The entire booth erupted into loud, screeching laughter. Nina doubled over, clutching her stomach, while one of the guys started clapping his hands together.
I turned my head away instantly, staring at the far wall.
I could feel a sudden, violent heat flooding up into my neck and cheekbones, burning straight through my pride.
I blamed it on the hookah smoke. I blamed it on the heat of the room. I blamed it on everything except the boy sitting next to me.
