The words landed somewhere deep and unexpected in my chest, knocking the breath out of me for a second.
I had spent so much time viewing Cyan as an extension of Cassian's world, someone glamorous and distant who only existed in orbit around the Wolfe family that I hadn't realized how much space he had taken up in my own life over the last few hours.
"Yeah," I said quietly, a real, unburdened smile touching my lips as I closed my eyes. "I think we actually are."
Cyan didn't say anything more after that, which was somehow the perfect response. He just closed his eye again, letting the quiet warmth of the room take over.
By the time we finally left the hotel, the sun had gone down completely, leaving the city streets cool and dark.
