In the inner city of the capital, in the Inner Sanctum of the Temple of Light, the air was pleasantly filled with the smell of fragrant and definitely expensive incense.
The room was massive.
The floors and towering pillars were built entirely from spotless white marble, supporting a vaulted canopy that allowed the wind to flow easily through the holy space.
There were no stifling walls to block the outside world; instead, the chamber was brightly lit by warm, pleasing sunlight that bathed everything in a divine, comforting glow.
In the centre, a real, crackling fire burned inside a grand stone lamp.
The lamp was held by a towering white marble statue of a Goddess in the exact centre of the room. It was divine.
And directly beneath the statue sat a wide indoor pond filled with crystal-blue water. White lotus plants floated lazily on the surface.
