Chapter 162: The Call of the Yellow Moonlight

"That one? I just stabbed you because I didn't like your face."

With that, Peggy pulled the screwdriver out.

"Alright, stop crying like a coward. Drive us back to Chicago, you useless piece of trash."

As she spoke, she casually wiped the blood off the screwdriver.

---

Meanwhile, William had already returned to Chicago.

The reason was simple—Karen had called him.

Eddie was about to be buried, and she asked if he wanted to attend the funeral.

A scene like pissing on the grave—how could William possibly miss that?

Besides, Peggy had already gotten the money, so there was no reason for him to linger.

He slammed the accelerator, and the AMG sped toward Chicago.

---

A few hours later, outside a cemetery in the Chicago suburbs—

An AMG was parked beneath the shade of a tree.

Inside the car, the air carried a strange, lingering scent.

"Karen, aren't you worried Eddie might get so mad he jumps out of the coffin? You're still messing around like this before his burial."

"Shut up."

Karen didn't bother answering, simply covering his mouth with her hand.

Karen was drenched in sweat, while William remained completely unfazed.

Thanks to his healing factor, his body had long since been transformed into something beyond human.

For him, this level of exertion was nothing—like a breeze passing by, incapable of raising his temperature or even drawing out a drop of sweat.

It was like powering a high-end gaming rig with an overkill 6000W supply—even at full load, the system barely warmed up.

Karen, on the other hand, had a completely different experience.

Later:

Her eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings, a trace of exhaustion leaking from her gaze.

Only when the tension finally faded did she slump weakly against him, letting out a faint, satisfied murmur.

A final, almost cathartic cry marked the end of their intense encounter.

---

"What was that supposed to mean?" Karen frowned, lightly smacking William in annoyance.

"Nothing," William shrugged. "Just thinking you're one hell of a devoted daughter."

To be honest, he wasn't sure if, after his interference, Karen would escalate from pissing on the grave… to something even worse.

After all, Karen's moral bottom line? Practically nonexistent.

"Shut up! Eddie deserved it!" Karen rolled her eyes, then started putting her clothes back on one piece at a time.

William shrugged again and got dressed as well.

---

Soon, the two stepped out of the car.

Because of William's interference, Karen and Lip had no interaction anymore—though Lip probably still couldn't let her go.

At the same time, Frank and Sheila's relationship had also been cut off due to the whole "demon eye" incident.

As a result, no one from the Gallagher family had been invited to the funeral.

Which conveniently avoided Fiona discovering William's relationship with Karen.

---

To be honest, Fiona was still like a ticking time bomb.

William needed to speed things up—break her down, reshape her.

And the key to that… was Lip.

Only by deepening the conflict between Lip and Fiona, pushing Fiona into extreme emotional pain, could he truly break through her psychological defenses.

Only then could he turn her completely into his obedient "puppy."

At this point, William wasn't even that interested in the system's rewards anymore.

Turning Fiona into his own… had become something of an obsession.

---

With that thought in mind, the two walked toward a gravestone.

Quite a few people had already gathered there.

Sheila, due to her illness, did not attend Eddie's funeral.

The people present were mostly Eddie's relatives.

At the front, the priest was reciting the burial prayer.

"Eddie Jackson—a husband, a father, a son.

He lived his life with diligence, yet fate is often cruel…"

As the prayer continued, William and Karen quietly blended into the crowd.

William was dressed in a black suit, while Karen wore a black dress with a matching hat, veiled in fine black mesh—a classic funeral look.

"Now, we invite Eddie's family to offer the first handful of soil."

As the priest finished speaking, many eyes turned toward Karen.

By tradition, the first handful should have come from her—or Sheila.

But Karen hated Eddie too much to do it, and Sheila wasn't present.

For a moment, the scene fell into awkward silence.

In the end, Eddie's cousin stepped forward and completed the ritual.

Karen didn't fulfill her role, but she remained standing there, watching silently as Eddie's coffin was lowered into the ground.

Soil slowly covered it.

Then a stone gravestone was set in place, marking his final resting spot.

To be honest, even though Karen hated Eddie, watching him being buried stirred something complicated inside her.

When someone you've hated your whole life suddenly dies, and you stand at their funeral—

After the anger and resentment fade, what follows is often a brief, hollow confusion.

Of course, there are people who can remain completely unmoved.

But this wasn't some cold, detached world—most people couldn't truly erase their humanity.

At first, the relatives stayed with Karen.

But as time passed, people began to leave.

One after another, they drifted away.

Within an hour, only Karen and William remained.

Karen hadn't cried.

She hadn't made a scene.

Her face remained completely expressionless.

"Want to let it out?" William asked, glancing at her. "We could go smash something… or maybe hit the range?"

"Later," Karen said calmly. "There's something more important first."

She stepped forward.

Right up to Eddie's grave.

Then—

She raised her middle finger at the gravestone.

And calmly pulled down her pants.

Squatting there without hesitation.

Ten minutes later, a fresh pile sat quietly atop Eddie's grave.

Compared to just urinating on it—

This was on an entirely different level.

But honestly… this was very Karen.

Completely in character.

William wasn't surprised in the slightest.

Karen had never been a good person to begin with.

"Alright," she said, completely at ease, even smiling as she hooked her arm around William's.

"We can go now."
