"As the RazenHeir house has been holding the line … under article … they would be entitled to …"
The deliberations went on.
It has gone on for a good amount already.
The knights of the various houses stood overlooking the table. The monotony of the deliberation was making even the most disciplined knights quietly wriggle their fingers in their thick gloves.
Hikari glances at Ria. She had been sitting with a straight posture for the entire duration.
"Ria's pretty good at this."
She could hear every word that was said, but her mind had long drifted from the contents of the proceedings.
The only thing of interest was the steak placed in front of each delegate.
Perfectly grilled with rich brown sauce and colorful garnish.
No one had dug into it yet. It was just for decoration. Hikari wonders if she would get to eat it at the end.
She glances across at the giant nun who had been praying this whole time unperturbed.
Hikari studies her closer. Her robes were mana insulating. But Hikari could tell she was circulating her mana underneath those robes.
"That's a good way to spend time."
She couldn't do likewise as the volume of her mana at her current size would cause a disturbance.
Out of boredom, she glanced over at the delegation from the merchant's guild.
She could sense that they were not knights. They do not have a natural born mana form but their expensive looking gear exuded a significant mana presence.
A guard in heavy armour, a mage and an assassin.
They were the elite guards that escort the merchant guilds VIPs and high end goods.
Their gear was on the same level as what the key figures of the RazenHeir house may come to wear and could very likely hold their own against them.
. . .
Hikari stood in her stance.
Swords undrawn. Her heavy blade is nothing but a burden against smaller and nimble opponents.
The Guard drew his two handed hammer. The armour cores on his suit hummed with power.
The assassin smashed a bottle of glitter onto the ground, fading in the air in plain view.
The mage channeled his staff. An arc of energy struck Hikari's chest, arcing up to her neck. It didn't pierce her barrier through to her wyvern skin.
She felt a surge of power in the Guard.
With a thrust, he lunged at Hikari, his hammer arcing with power.
Hikari lifts her boot and sends him flying with a kick. The assassin appears behind her. The moment he charges his dagger for an attack, she could sense him.
She lifts her arm and turns her body.
The assassin was startled by the speed of her movements.
The giantess's hand swatted him like a fly, sending him crashing into the ground.
The mage struck her with another arc. Like the first it did no damage.
Hikari held out her hand and telekinetically pulled him towards herself before crushing him with her fingers.
. . .
"As for provisions … the RazenHeir house shall put the requested quantities on sale at the prices … other provisions would be … costs will be distributed and signed by …"
The merchant read from his script. The scribes handed out inventory manifests to the delegates.
Ria skimmed the contents. She was a quick reader.
She asks the merchant some questions regarding the details of the inventory requests.
They began getting into the nitty gritties before another delegate intervened, citing the need to move forward.
Hikari looked at the merchant guild guards.
They couldn't help but glance back at her as it was difficult not to detect her gaze.
The Guard cleared his throat. Quietly, he adjusted his belt while his hands were by his side by squeezing them together.
The negotiations dragged on. It was past Hikari's lunch time. The uneaten steaks on the fine table cloth had gone cold.
The escorts of the various houses stood still as they were trained to do.
Hikari kept still. Patience is a virtue on the battlefield.
A crow landed atop her hand. It hopped around the top of her head, pecking and pulling up single strands of her.
Then, it began shaking its tail.
"Don't do it…"
The bird hopped to another spot.
It dug at a spot in her hair.
It began chirping for unknown reasons.
It scratched its feathers with one leg.
It hopped back to the original spot.
"I'm warning you…"
The bird began digging again.
It turned around and hovered its tail over the spot.
Poof. Black feathers floated towards the ground as the bird blew up.
The mana users standing around gave Hikari a glance.
She looked straight, pretending that nothing happened.
The eyes pointed at her eventually turned away.
She glanced at the nun again. She was still praying.
Hikari continued to observe her.
She couldn't get a good gauge of her strength in her dormant state.
She could only observe her low weight distribution which threw her off as when she tried to piggy back her earlier.
The nun opens her eyes.
. . .
The armoured nun appeared before her.
Her tower shield. Her full body armour.
Hikari drew her sword and assumed her stance.
Her opponent puts on her helmet.
She wields her hammer.
"A close range brawl this time?"
Hikari grips her sword, keeping her eyes peeled for her opponent's next move.
The anointed one pours her energy into her hammer.
It glowed with blinding light.
The anointed one brought it back behind her shoulders and tossed it at Hikari.
The spinning hammer with that force that could easily smash walls barreled towards her.
Hikari side steps. Parrying a spinning hammer would result in her getting hit or at least a sprained wrist.
Seeing her opponent unarmed, she closed the distance.
Her opponent huddles her shield close and rested herself on one knee in a turtled stance.
Hikari releases her flying daggers. They flew past her turtling opponent and pointed at her back.
Her opponent did not adjust her stance. Instead, she channeled a barrier of light around herself.
The flaming daggers struck her back.
Clank! The daggers were deflected from their armour.
The light barrier filters out the flames, leaving only the bare steel which could not pierce the anointed one's armour.
The hammer boomeranged back.
Hikari side stepped, allowing the whirling mass to fly past her.
The brief moment where her opponent catches the hammer, Hikari dashed forward and raised her boot.
Thud. A full thrust with the strength of her thigh, her boot sole crashed into the shield.
Her opponent was knocked back, but she was able to regain her stance.
Hikari stopped to observe her opponent as she faced her with her turtling stance.
The shield is virtually impenetrable. The low center of gravity meant it was impossible to stagger her. Her concentrated light barrier blocks out the Razenheir flame.
Her wyvern flame could melt through the armour with enough power but her defensive stance makes it difficult.
Hikari darted forward and thrust her sword.
Her opponent lowered herself behind her shield.
The searing sword cut the shield but did not pierce.
Hikari shuffled her feet, diving towards the flank of her opponent, looking to flank her.
The anointed one suddenly lunged at her. She blocked the shield with her knee cap, but the force from the shield thrust staggered her enough to preclude a counterattack.
Hikari reset.
She lunged again.
Her opponent backstepped, forcing her sword to land on her shield.
If she gets close, a shield bash would force her back, causing a reset.
Hikari stopped to devise a plan to break her defense.
But her opponent did not sit still.
Her hammer glowed with brilliant light.
Hikari prepares to dodge.
Raising her arm, she swings the hammer over her head.
An afterimage appeared, whirling around the anointed one as she raised her main hammer back behind her shield.
The afterimage whirled around her.
Steadily, she marched towards Hikari.
Hikari shuffled back, staying just out of range of the whirling image.
She draws a steel dagger and tosses it against the image.
Clank! It was deflected as though it hit a solid piece of steel.
The anointed one lunged.
Her shield coming from the front.
The image barreling down the flank.
Hikari kicks her shield and swings her sword, smashing right into the image.
Her opponent was staggered. The light barrier surrounding her fizzled out as the hammer image was knocked away by the sheer force of Hikari's swing.
Before she could sink her shield back into the ground, Hikari's boot hit the front of her helmet in a high kick, causing her to fall backwards.
She fell on one knee.
Hikari's sword came down, the force of both of her massive arms behind it and struck the sim between her shoulder plate and neck.
