Max made his way to Charlie and Vaggie's room after getting the message.
When he entered, both of them were already sitting on the bed waiting for him.
The atmosphere felt… serious.
Not bad.
Just important.
Charlie gestured toward the only free chair in the room.
"Please, take a seat."
Max immediately raised his hands defensively while sitting down.
"Okay, before this starts—I don't think I did anything wrong."
That got a small laugh out of Charlie.
"No, no," she said quickly. "If anything, we're really grateful for everything you've done."
Vaggie crossed her arms.
"We just wanted to ask about something."
Max leaned back slightly.
"Alright."
Vaggie looked awkward for a moment before finally speaking.
"…I remember being drunk."
Max nodded slowly.
"That checks out."
"And I remember betting my soul in a card game."
Max immediately coughed into his hand.
"…Also checks out."
Vaggie narrowed her eye.
"Did that actually go through?"
She looked genuinely worried now.
"I don't remember everything."
Max immediately shook his head.
"No."
The relief on Vaggie's face was immediate.
"My contracts can bind souls," Max admitted honestly, "but I'm not the kind of person who takes advantage of drunk people."
Vaggie visibly relaxed.
Charlie looked thoughtful though.
"…What if we did sign the contracts?"
That surprised both Max and Vaggie.
Charlie continued quietly.
"Could you promise to keep me and Vaggie together?"
The room fell silent.
Even Vaggie looked shocked by the question.
Max answered honestly.
"Yeah."
He shrugged slightly.
"That's literally how the clauses work."
"When someone signs the contract, they can place a demand or condition I have to follow."
He started counting examples on his fingers.
"Bee's is probably something related to always being there for her parties."
He frowned slightly.
"Honestly, I can't fully see the exact clauses."
Charlie blinked.
"What do you mean?"
"My magic glitches out around them."
He tapped the side of his head.
"I can feel the meaning emotionally, but I can't directly read the clauses themselves."
He sighed.
"It's weird."
Charlie looked down thoughtfully.
"So if our souls become connected to yours…"
She hesitated.
"…Then nobody else could bargain for them, right?"
Max blinked.
Then immediately realized where her thoughts were going.
Angel Dust.
Deals.
Overlord contracts.
Soul ownership.
"…Technically, yes."
Charlie and Vaggie both looked at him immediately.
"Angel's contract with Valentino still exists," Max explained carefully, "but eventually it will end."
"And once my contract exists…"
He leaned forward slightly.
"Nobody else can claim ownership unless the person genuinely wants to leave."
Vaggie and Charlie exchanged a long look.
Vaggie sighed first.
"…Honestly?"
She looked back at Max.
"You're probably the safest guy in Hell."
Max blinked.
"That's both flattering and deeply concerning."
Charlie giggled slightly.
Then two glowing contracts appeared in front of them automatically.
Max looked down at them.
"…Well."
"That answers that."
Charlie picked hers up carefully.
Vaggie read through hers surprisingly thoroughly.
"…This actually looks solid," Vaggie admitted.
Max smirked slightly.
"Of course it does."
Charlie smiled softly.
"Then… why not?"
And together—
They signed.
The moment the signatures finished—
Time froze.
Max sighed deeply.
"…Again?"
Reality blurred around him instantly.
And the next thing he knew—
The sky was red.
Sirens echoed across Hell.
Angels descended in the distance.
Max blinked once.
"…Great."
The Extermination had started.
He looked around quickly, mentally sorting through events.
"Okay…"
"Charlie's hotel gets attacked."
"Alastor shows up to 'save' them."
He rolled his eyes slightly.
"…And I'm still ninety percent sure that smug deer bastard planned the entire thing."
He stretched slightly.
"But first…"
He looked toward the distant skyline.
"Octavia."
Max sighed.
"Time to find the emotionally neglected owl princess before she accidentally teleports herself into an active Extermination zone."
Then he vanished into the chaos of Hell.
