Chapter 44
The healing energy continued to flow steadily from Rosa's hands, wrapping around Marcus's broken body , She didn't move, her eyes were fixed on him, carefully watching every small reaction.
His breathing was still uneven and shallow.
It felt like he could die any moment
"…come on…" she muttered under her breath, her brows tightening slightly.
For a moment there was nothing....
Then his fingers twitched.
Rosa's eyes sharpened. She leaned in just a little, keeping her hands steady.
"…that's it…"
The energy around her hands didn't grow stronger, but it became more controlled, smoother and flowing deeper into his body.
Marcus's lips parted slightly, a weak breath escaped.
"…gh…"
Silence followed again.
Rosa frowned. "…oi… old man"
But there was no response...
She clicked her tongue softly, but didn't stop.
"…don't do this…"
Inside her head, Leviathan spoke calmly. "calm down stupid you are putting to much pressure on your self he's not fully stable yet don't rush it."
Rosa ignored him, her focus still locked on Marcus.
A few seconds passed.
Then suddenly...
"GHK…!"
Marcus gasped sharply, his body jerking as air rushed violently into his lungs.
"HA…! Haa…!"
His breathing came out rough and broken, like someone dragged back from the edge of death
Rosa quickly pulled her hands back slightly.
" hey easy… don't move…"
Marcus didn't respond. His eyes were still closed, his chest rising and falling unevenly.
Then he coughed.
Cough…!
A small amount of blood slipped from his mouth.
Rosa's expression tightened. "…damn it…" She wiped it off quickly with her sleeve. "Stay still."
A few more seconds passed before his eyelids twitched.
Rosa noticed immediately. "…old man marcus…"
Slowly, his eyes opened just a little, but it was blurry
"…haa…"
His voice barely came out.
"…where…"
Rosa didn't answer immediately. She just watched him, making sure his breathing was stabilizing.
"…Rosa…?"
Her name came out uncertain.
She exhaled quietly. "…yeah. I'm here."
Marcus blinked slowly, trying to focus on her face.
"…what happened….. my head feels very heavy
Rosa glanced away for a moment, then back at him. "…you got messed up really bad ."
Marcus stayed quiet. His eyes shifted slightly, like he was trying to piece things together.
Then his expression changed, and his fingers twitched weakly.
"…that sound…"
Rosa didn't interrupt.
Marcus's breathing tightened again. "…over and over…"
His voice dropped.
"…it didn't stop…"
A silence settled between them.
Rosa looked at him carefully. "…you don't have to say it."
Marcus didn't respond. His gaze drifted away.
"…I couldn't do anything.."
His voice was low.
"…again…"
Rosa stayed quiet for a moment, then spoke calmly.
"…but you're still here and alive ."
Marcus's eyes shifted slightly.
"You didn't die," she continued. "…even after all that."
He exhaled slowly.
Rosa leaned back slightly, sitting beside him instead of hovering over him.
"…can you move?"
Marcus tried. His fingers curled slightly, as his arm was also trembling.
"…gh…"
Pain hit immediately and he stopped.
Rosa watched, then nodded faintly. "… hmph that's good enough."
Inside her head, Leviathan spoke quietly. "He survived."
Rosa replied in her mind, "…yeah…"
She looked at Marcus again as he tried to steady his breathing for a moment, his body still trembling slightly from the pain. Everything around him felt dizzy, like the world hadn't fully settled yet.
"…tch…"
He slowly tried to sit up.
"..ghh…!"
Pain shot through his ribs and arms immediately, forcing a sharp breath out of him. His movements were stiff, unbalanced, but he kept going, pushing himself up little by little until he was barely sitting.
Rosa frowned and stepped closer. "Oi what are you doing don't push yourself too hard."
Marcus didn't respond.
She clicked her tongue. "You literally broke almost every bone in your ribs and arms. You should be dead already."
Marcus exhaled slowly, still trying to steady himself. "…yeah… maybe…"
Rosa folded her arms. "Not maybe. Definitely."
Marcus ignored her, his gaze lowering slightly. "…I have to report this…"
Rosa raised a brow. "Report what?"
"…Betsheba… her ability…" He clenched his jaw slightly. "I have to report this to other pillars..…"
He began to push himself up again...
Then suddenly stopped.
His body stiffened.
"…wait…"
Rosa blinked. "What?"
Marcus slowly turned his head toward her again.
His eyes narrowed.
"…wait how?
Rosa tilted her head. "What are you talking about?"
Marcus stared at her more carefully now, his senses sharper despite his condition.
"…that power it's different…"
His breathing slowed slightly as he focused.
"…what are you emitting right now…?"
Ehh he's sharper than I thought leviathan exclaimed
Rosa smirked slightly, rubbing the back of her head. "Eh… you noticed that?"
Marcus didn't answer immediately instead another thought slammed on his head
His eyes widened slightly.
"…wait ehh how did you even get here…?"
Rosa blinked.
Marcus continued, more serious now. "You were in Portugal we'rent you?
His gaze sharpened "so how did you come here…?"
Rosa scratched the back of her head again, smirking awkwardly. "Eh… long story."
Marcus stared at her.
"…you're not even going to try to explain?"
Rosa shrugged. "Well it's alot to take in I doubt very strongly even if I did explain you would understand ?"
Marcus didn't respond because for a moment everything went blank
Then slowly his eyes began to loose focus.
"…huh…?"
His body swayed slightly and just like that...
He collapsed.
Rosa's eyes widened slightly as she stepped forward and caught him before he hit the ground.
"…oi…"
She looked at his unconscious face.
Then smirked lightly.
"…looks like you really outdid yourself."
Inside her head, leviathan spoke casually.
"Hey Rosa… let's shave him."
Rosa's face instantly went pale " ehh what are you saying ?!"
Leviathan laughed. "Relax I was trying to be funny "
Rosa frowned. "There's nothing funny about that!"
She sighed, adjusting Marcus's weight slightly as she held him.
"…you're actually annoying…"
A short pause, then she spoke again, more serious this time.
"…you said there are other spirit beasts, right?"
Leviathan responded immediately. "Yes."
A brief silence then his tone shifted slightly.
"…I can feel one right now."
Rosa's eyes narrowed.
"…where?"
Leviathan grinned.
"I can pinpoint exactly where it is it's eminating from Japan and trust me it's strong...
Rosa nodded slightly. "…I see…"
She looked down at Marcus, still unconscious in her arms.
"…guess you're coming with me, old man Marcus…"
She adjusted her grip, lifting him more securely.
Then
Without hesitation she began to lift off the ground with ease
"Let's go to Japan…"
BOOM!!
The ground beneath her cracked slightly as she launched upward.
Her body shot into the air with incredible speed, disappearing into the sky in an instant. The wind tore past her face like jagged blades, whistling in her ears as Rosa plummeted through the sky.
During her training, Rosa had become so fast that she could reach any country in less than 0.0001 seconds with her flight ability
And what was more freightninig was that wasn't even her top speed
Her body remained steady and controlled, and what was more frightening this wasn't even her top speed yet.
Arriving in Japan, she spotted a nearby building and landed gracefully on the rooftop. The moon shone brightly above, casting silver light over the cool night air.
She slowly placed Marcus Steel down, his body still limp in her arms.
"Alright… let's try and heal him again," she muttered, focusing her mind.
A faint glow began to surround her hands, flowing outward in a controlled current as her healing magic wrapped around Marcus.
"Eii… it's really easy now," she exclaimed, a hint of surprise in her voice.
Leviathan's voice echoed in her mind, scoffing. "Of course it is. It will be. You and I have become one after all, haven't we?"
Rosa chuckled slightly, staring down at Marcus. "Yes… that should do it. He should be alright by morning.. but it means that being was strong to be able to do this to a pillar..
A pause, then Leviathan spoke again. " Rosa aren't you worried about your family? They'll be worried sick."
Rosa smiled faintly. "No… I've already told them before I left. I'm sure Mother isn't worried anymore."
I told her I was going to be a hero and make dad proud
I guess everyone can be a hero someday
She adjusted Marcus slightly, making sure he was comfortable, and allowed herself a small breath.
The night air was quiet except for the faint rustle of leaves in the wind.
