Chapter 91 - CHAPTER 91:TERMS OF AURORA

Silence sat on the table like a blade.

ART could feel it in his throat, the pressure of being in a room where every word mattered. NEO's posture was calm but tight, like she was holding herself still on purpose. KODA kept glancing at the fox badge, then at Metatron's mask, like he was trying to understand the logic behind a symbol.

Nyx leaned against the wall with arms folded, watching all three of them like she was measuring what kind of trouble they'd bring.

Metatron stood at the head of the table.

No dramatic speech.

No intimidation act.

Just presence.

"Aurora isn't official," he said again, voice low. "So if you want in, you don't get comfort. You get rules."

ART nodded quickly. "Okay."

NEO didn't speak.

KODA said, "Rules are fine."

Metatron's gaze shifted to him. "Good."

He tapped the table once, and a small interface panel appeared above the wood—guild framework, but dimmed, locked behind permissions.

"Aurora is pending because we're not rushing registration," Metatron said. "Rushed guilds attract parasites."

NEO's eyes narrowed slightly. "And pending doesn't?"

"It attracts less," Metatron replied. "Because there's no official list to scrape. No public roster. No easy proof."

Nyx added quietly, "People still talk. But talking isn't evidence."

ART swallowed. "So what are we then?"

Metatron answered without hesitation. "A blade with no handle."

ART blinked. "That sounds… dangerous."

"It is," Cyberius' voice said from the doorway.

ART turned so fast he nearly knocked his chair back.

Cyberius walked in first, casual as always, like he owned the place. Behind him came Optimus_Prime, calm and heavy like a wall that learned to walk. They both stopped when they saw the three new faces.

Cyberius stared at ART. Then at NEO. Then at KODA.

"…Nyx," he said slowly, "you've been shopping."

Nyx rolled her eyes. "They found me."

Cyberius pointed at ART. "This one looks like trouble."

ART straightened. "I'm ART."

Cyberius' eyes lit up. "Oh, he introduced himself. He's definitely trouble."

Optimus glanced at KODA's chalk-stained fingers. "Runesmith."

KODA nodded once. "Yes."

Optimus looked at NEO's staff. "Mage."

NEO met his gaze evenly. "Yes."

Then Optimus looked at ART. "Artist."

ART grinned. "Yes."

Cyberius rubbed his chin dramatically. "Okay. This is actually good. Annoying, but good."

Metatron didn't let the moment breathe too long.

He pointed at the fox badge on the table.

"That badge is not a gift," he said. "It's a warning. If you wear it, you represent Aurora. If you embarrass Aurora, you become a problem I solve."

ART's grin shrank. "Understood."

NEO's voice was quiet. "What do you want from us?"

Metatron's head tilted slightly. "Competence."

Cyberius snorted. "That's his love language."

Optimus ignored him.

Metatron continued, "Phase Two changed the world. Guilds are choking routes. Buying zones. Controlling cultivation wells. They'll pressure anyone talented and unclaimed."

KODA said, "We saw."

Metatron nodded once. "Then you understand the real point of Aurora."

ART leaned forward. "To fight them?"

"To move," Metatron replied.

That hit differently.

Metatron tapped the panel again. More information opened—guild structure, branches, roles.

"Guild Master," he said, not naming himself out loud but making it obvious.

"Vice Master," he added, and his gaze flicked briefly to Nyx.

Nyx didn't react, but ART's eyebrows rose.

Cyberius smirked. "Yeah. She's scary enough."

Nyx shot him a look. "Talk again."

Cyberius shut up for once.

Metatron continued, "Core Fangs. That's us."

Optimus nodded once, like it fit him.

Cyberius grinned. "Finally, a title that sounds like trouble."

Metatron's gaze returned to the three of them.

"Members wear the badge," he said. "Not the mask."

ART looked at the wall where the white fox mask hung. "So who gets the mask?"

Nyx answered before Metatron could. "Those who carry the guild's face."

Metatron added, "And those who can be trusted to disappear when needed."

KODA's eyes sharpened. "Shadow Trail."

Metatron looked at him for a beat longer. "You think quickly."

KODA nodded. "Efficiency."

Cyberius groaned. "He said it again."

Metatron didn't smile, but his tone shifted slightly—almost approving.

"Shadow Trail wears white masks too," he said. "Same base. Minimal markings. No glow. No drama."

ART's eyes lit up again. "That's sick."

Nyx said flatly, "Don't say 'sick' in front of him."

ART swallowed. "Yes ma'am."

Cyberius burst out laughing. Optimus exhaled through his nose like that was the closest thing to humor he allowed himself.

Metatron's voice cut back through the noise.

"Here's the real test."

He looked at ART first.

"You're family to Nyx. That buys you one thing."

ART leaned forward, hopeful.

"Scrutiny," Metatron said.

ART's face fell. "Oh."

Cyberius slapped the table lightly. "Welcome to Aurora."

Metatron looked at NEO.

"You're new," he said. "Why should we trust you?"

NEO's answer was immediate. "You shouldn't. Not yet."

Metatron held her gaze.

NEO continued, calm. "But if you need discipline, I have it. If you need control, I'm building it. I don't talk much. I don't waste stamina. I don't waste Synth."

Metatron nodded once.

Then he looked at KODA.

"You?"

KODA answered simply. "I don't want to be owned by bigger guilds."

Metatron's gaze stayed on him. "That's not enough."

KODA didn't flinch. "Then I'll be useful. Runes can secure routes, lock doors, hide tracks, reinforce defenses. If you want to move, structured control is efficiency."

Cyberius put his head in his hands. "He weaponized the word."

Optimus finally spoke. "He's right."

Metatron tapped the table again.

Three badge slots opened on the panel, dim and waiting.

"Take them," he said.

ART reached first.

NEO hesitated half a second, then took hers.

KODA took his without expression.

Nyx watched their hands as they picked up the badges.

"Once you wear that," she said quietly, "you don't just gain protection."

She leaned forward a little.

"You gain enemies."

ART swallowed, then grinned anyway. "Good."

NEO didn't smile, but her eyes hardened. "Fine."

KODA nodded once. "Expected."

Metatron's mask tilted slightly, like he was satisfied.

"Tomorrow," he said, "you work."

Cyberius perked up. "Ah. Here comes the fun part."

Metatron's voice stayed calm.

"Aurora needs proof of existence."

He tapped the panel and a new objective flashed.

Operation: Foxlight

Target: Guild Toll Route

Location: Stone Dragon Borderland Bridge

Goal: Break the blockade without starting a war.

ART's stomach tightened.

NEO's fingers flexed around her staff.

KODA's chalk was already in his palm.

Nyx's eyes sharpened like she'd been waiting for violence all day.

Metatron spoke one last time.

"We don't announce Aurora with speeches."

He turned toward the wall where the white fox mask hung like a silent oath.

"We announce it with results."

And outside, in the streets of Stone Dragon City, guild banners kept fluttering like they owned the world.

They were about to learn what it meant when a fox finally stepped out of the snow.
