The closer we drew toward the fae kingdom, the worse the feeling inside my chest became. At first it had only been unease, then anxiety, then something far deeper. It clawed through me in waves so intense that several times I nearly lost my balance atop the valiant steed entirely.
Every emotion around me pressed violently against my consciousness until I could barely separate my own feelings from the thousands flooding through the bond tied to the Fae Queen. Fear. Panic. Confusion. Distrust. The emotions crashed against me endlessly like a storm tide.
Kaiden noticed almost immediately. "Seraphina."
His voice sounded low beside my ear as the beast thundered through another frozen tunnel. One arm remained securely wrapped around my waist while the other controlled the reins with practiced precision.
"You are trembling."
I had not even realized it.
"I can feel them," I admitted quietly while staring ahead toward the rushing blur of stone and ice. "The fae."
