The thought alone made Liu Xi's fingers twitch with excitement. That destructive power — the one that had annihilated four Dou Zun Fire Lizards in a single strike — wasn't something an ordinary Di Class Dou Technique could achieve. Even if those creatures were clumsy brutes, that level of might was still terrifying.
He glanced toward the bed where Zi Yan lay, her cheeks flushed and her aura faintly surging. With how much the Old Dragon Emperor treasured her, Liu Xi knew there was no real danger — she was only refining the massive surge of energy in her body.
Turning to Qing Lin, he said softly, "Keep an eye on her. If anything changes, notify me immediately."
"Yes, Young Master." Qing Lin nodded. Her beautiful green eyes glimmered faintly as she activated her Jade Snake Three-Flower Pupils. Within her pupils, three blue-green petals bloomed like luminous flowers, casting an ethereal glow that shimmered across the room.
A soft hiss echoed. A slender Two-Headed Flame Spirit Snake, no thicker than a thumb, slithered out from the void and coiled affectionately around Qing Lin's fair wrist. It flicked its twin tongues, emitting a series of playful chirps that only she could understand.
Liu Xi raised an eyebrow, a trace of recognition flashing in his eyes. "Ah, so it's this little fellow. The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Snake. I thought it was long gone. It was only a 4th Rank Magical Beast back then — to think it's reached 6th Rank already."
Qing Lin smiled shyly, gently stroking the snake's fiery scales. "This one was captured together with you back then, Young Master. I've raised it ever since." Her voice grew softer, her expression tinged with faint warmth. "I still remember… that day when Young Master leaned close and whispered beside my ear…"
Her voice trailed off as her cheeks turned crimson. A teasing glimmer flashed through her pupils, and with a subtle lick of her pink tongue over her lips, she looked up, those jade-green eyes filled with charm and longing.
Liu Xi could feel the air shift. The faint fragrance of her body mixed with the warmth of the room, and for a moment, the silence became charged. He wasn't sure whether it was her Snake-People bloodline or just her natural allure, but Qing Lin didn't even need to use her spiritual charm technique — her gaze alone was enough to make his heart stir.
He swallowed lightly, forcing a smile. "You little temptress…"
Still, he couldn't bring himself to push her away. His hand reached out almost of its own accord, tilting her chin upward. Qing Lin's lashes trembled; she closed her eyes as her breath hitched — waiting.
Their lips met briefly. Her lips were cool and soft, trembling faintly, tasting faintly of sweet herbs. She was clearly inexperienced, yet instinctively responsive, and Liu Xi could feel the heat rising within him. For a heartbeat, he nearly lost control. But he stopped, ending the kiss gently before it could go any further.
When he pulled back, Qing Lin's face was flushed like a blooming rose, her eyes hazy. She smiled faintly, voice soft as silk. "If Zi Yan's condition changes, My consciousness can manifest through Ling Shuang and call you instantly."
"Good." Liu Xi nodded approvingly, ruffling her hair. "I'll leave her to you then. I'll be in the back mountain — trying something new."
Qing Lin lowered her head shyly, her voice tender. "Be careful, Young Master."
The inner courtyard's back mountain stretched far beyond the eyes could see, filled with towering ancient trees and occasional roars of hidden Magical Beasts. It was the perfect place for testing destruction.
Liu Xi set the tiny snake down on a rock. "Stay close. Don't wander." He walked a few steps away and exhaled slowly, his gaze firm. "Let's see if I can recreate that technique."
His right hand rose, fingers steady and pale against the dim sunlight. The Heaven Burning Finger had once been his trump card, but this new fusion — the one born from battle beneath the magma — held a power beyond imagination.
Dou Qi surged through his veins, carrying with it the fierce energy of his Heavenly Flame. The cyan blaze gathered at his fingertip, forming a small rotating sphere — a miniature sun radiating a faint hum of annihilation. Even at this size, the destructive aura made the ground beneath him tremble.
But it wasn't enough. Liu Xi frowned. "That day… it wasn't just Dou Qi and Heavenly Flame. I also infused my Spiritual Power."
With a thought, streams of Spiritual Power poured from between his brows and merged with the sphere. Instantly, the calm energy became chaotic, unstable — as if three fierce beasts were tearing at one another within a cage.
The orb pulsed violently, cracks of light forming on its surface. Liu Xi's expression hardened. "So that's how it is. Fine — brute force, then!"
He focused all three forces, weaving them together through sheer will. The Spiritual Power became the mediator, forcing balance between flame and Dou Qi. For a moment, the instability slowed — but then the sphere trembled again.
"Not good—"
He flung the unstable orb far into the trees and leapt backward. A split second later, silence consumed the world. Then the light vanished — replaced by darkness.
The explosion was soundless. Everything within dozens of meters — trees, soil, stone, even the wind — vanished as though swallowed by an invisible mouth. When the energy dissipated, only a smooth, glassy crater remained, perfectly circular, gleaming faintly under the sun.
From afar, Liu Xi stared, dumbfounded, then laughed under his breath. "Well… that's terrifying. The power's there, but it's far too unstable. If I poured everything into it, I'd kill my enemy — and myself along with him."
He took a deep breath, settling cross-legged beside the crater. 'Balance… the key is balance. The Spiritual Power must dissolve into the other two energies without disrupting their harmony.'
He tried again. And again. Each attempt ended in failure — sometimes an explosion, sometimes a harmless puff of smoke. Yet he persisted, day after day, returning to check on Zi Yan every few days, ensuring she was safe before resuming his experiments.
Weeks passed. The once lush back mountain was now dotted with countless craters, each one a silent testament to his persistence. Even the Magical Beasts had fled the area entirely.
Finally, after nearly a month of experimentation, Liu Xi stood once more before an empty stretch of scorched land. His eyes were calm. This time, he combined his three forces at a ratio of one-to-one-to-two — letting his Spiritual Power blend seamlessly into both flame and Dou Qi.
A black sun formed at his fingertip. It spun silently, smooth and perfect, radiating not heat, but annihilation. The air warped, and the clouds above turned dark. Winds howled. Space itself seemed to bend around him.
He smiled, slow and proud. 'Tian Class Dou Technique… born at last.'
"The Black Sun devours all beneath heaven." His gaze sharpened, the black sphere pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat. "From this day forward — this technique shall be called… Annihilation Finger."
