Everyone in that room was shocked. Aoi Haruki, the author who wrote Overlord, now wanted to start a school romance? He must have gone crazy. Everyone knew he had a lot of talent, but wasn't this just stupidity?

Whenever an author changes genres in their next work, it usually ends in disaster.

They had many contracted authors who went through that. So even though Aoi Haruki was extremely talented, this could end up being a wrong step in his writing career.

"Kuroda! You have to stop this!" the director shouted. "Even if he's talented, you must prevent it. The public opinion of Aoi Haruki is that he's a phenomenal author. There isn't a single person who has read or watched Overlord and didn't like it. If he publishes a low-quality romance, public opinion will change."

Kuroda knew that.

If Kyo wrote a poor romance story, public opinion would shift. And if that happened, his future works would be affected—even fantasy, a genre he was already experienced in.

"I don't want to stop the author from writing what he wants. But don't worry, he said he will send the first volume for analysis. We can make a decision after reading it."

"He said he would send an entire volume? So he's been writing for a long time. He was writing a stupid romance instead of finishing Overlord!?

Kuroda knew that Kyo could write very fast, but he didn't say that. He knew Kyo could write an entire volume in just a few days.

"Director, don't speak like that. He's our most popular contracted author of the last 15 years—we need to handle this carefully," one of the editors said. "Let's allow him to finish the first volume and then analyze it. What if it's actually a great story?"

"Tsk!" The director clicked his tongue and said, "Fine." Even so, he still thought it was a bad idea.

After that discussion ended, the director allowed Kuroda to leave and respond to the author, and the meeting continued.

They were deciding which works would continue and which would be canceled.

They noticed one thing: the quality of works was declining more and more.

POV: Kyo

As I was writing like crazy, I noticed I had received an email from Kuroda. I stopped to read it. It was a very professional email saying everything was fine and that I would definitely be able to finish my story in a satisfying way.

He made it very clear that he trusted my talent and abilities.

I smiled while reading it.

At the end of the email, he said he was looking forward to my new work. He also made a point to mention that he was in a meeting when he received my email, and everyone there was shocked to hear I would be writing a romance.

That must have been entertaining.

As I finished reading the email, my mother entered the room.

"Kyo, can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Hm? What is it?"

"It's about the recruiter from Amuse Inc."

"You contacted him?"

"Yes, I told him that you're very young and that I'm your mother. He said he wants to have a meeting with both of us tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? But I have school."

"Don't worry about that, I'll talk to your principal." She smiled.

"Alright then."

"Good, it's decided. Did you contact Mr. Kuroda?"

"Yes, I talked to him. I made it clear that I will finish Overlord, but it will take some time. Also, I told him I'm going to start writing a new novel."

"What? You're going to start writing a new novel?" My mother got excited. Even though she doesn't like Overlord, she's openly a fan of mine and supports anything I do.

"Yes, this time it's a romance novel. I think you'll like it."

"Romance?" Her eyes sparkled. After all, she's a fan of romance series. "I'm curious, can you tell me what the story will be like?"

"Well…"

"Wait, wait, you don't have to say anything. When it's published, I'll go buy it and read it like any other reader!"

After saying that, she left my room.

"Of course I refused. It's embarrassing."

"I think it would be a good opportunity. Don't you want to become an actor?"

"Acting in a series or movie is different from acting in a YouTube mini-series."

"Every actor has to start somewhere. It would be a good first project," my mother said, clearly teasing me.

"That's out of the question."

But my father added, "I really think it would be a good idea. It would be fun to watch."

"You want me to do that just to laugh at me, don't you?"

"Huh? Of course not. Do you think your father would laugh at you?"

"Robert." My mother said his name, and his body stiffened.

"You're right, I think it would be funny…"

"Don't worry, you'll be able to watch me in some series or movie soon."

"You're very confident," my father said.

"Yes, I am. I have talent, after all."

"Even though I think you should be a bit more humble, I like when you say things like that." My mother laughed. "Since you're so confident, let's make a bet."

"A bet?"

"Yes. If you manage to appear on TV within the next 3 months, I'll give you a present. But if you don't, you'll have to give me one."

She's just doing this to motivate me. It's a pretty harmless bet.

"Deal," I said.
