Mu Zhe walked along the path across the park to the dormitory. Jiang Hai had disappeared to pursue his dream. Zhang Yiran still hadn't returned to the dorm. No one knew what he was doing. Zhang Yiran rarely talked about his family. And Zhao Jun, since Ma Yuan had lived with him, he rarely hung out with them.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
Mu Zhe stopped his steps. Trying to figure out where the faint meowing sound was coming from.
Dommm!!
The sound of thunder on the sky. Mu Zhe looked up. The clear sky suddenly darkened.
"Damn it. I didn't bring an umbrella. Why I'm so unlucky today?"
Mu Zhe muttered and sprint his steps. Afraid of getting soaked by the rain.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
Mu Zhe stopped again. This time the meowing sound could be heard clearly.
He looked to his right. In the bushes, he saw a box containing a fluffy white kitten. His body shivered.
Mu Zhe walked towards the kitten.
"Who left you here?"
He said. Before he could even squat down. The heavy rain had soaked the ground. Mu Zhe quickly picked up the kitten and put it in his shirt and ran as fast as he could.
As he ran, his mind raced to find a shelter. The dorm was still far ahead. In that moment, he felt like the dorm getting further away from him.
Besides, how could he hide the little one in his arms who was shivering from the cold just like him?
Mu Zhe stopped his steps under a shady tree. Trying to take a shade there while he relieved his tiredness from running non stop.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
The little one starting to crying. He was hungry and cold after a long day crying for sympathy.
"Be patient baby. We'll find a place for you to stay."
But where? All his friends lived in the dorm just like him. Who should he leave the little one in his arms with. His little sister was allergic with fur. Home also impossible for the little one.
"What are you doing in the middle of this rain?"
A voice asked. A voice he knew very well. Mu Zhe looked up. Lulu was standing firmly in front of him while holding an umbrella. "Waa... here come an angel little kitty." He smile in relieved.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
The little one answered. Lulu peeked at the little one inside Mu Zhe's shirt. However, he saw something that interested him more than the little one who was already soaked in it. Lulu swallowed his saliva.
"Ehem...let me take you home."
Lulu said as he tried to be as calm as possible.
"Ha!?"
Mu Zhe asked in shock. May be more excited than shocked.
"You don't want the little one to get sick right?"
Lulu said as he pulled Mu Zhe with him. He could feel how Mu Zhe shivered in his arms.
How long have you been soaking in the rain? Lulu pursed his lips. If only he had come earlier, Mu Zhe wouldn't be in such a condition.
Arriving home, Lulu quickly reached for a towel and gave it to Mu Zhe.
"You go take a shower before you get a fever. I'll take care of the cat."
Lulu said firmly. Making Mu Zhe just comply with his command. Taking the towel from Lulu's hand and handing the soaking shivered little one to Lulu.
Lulu took the little one into his room. He put him in the basket near his bed and covered him with a towel. Then he started rummaging through the closet looking for clothes that would suit to Mu Zhe.
"Mu Zhe. I put your clothes here. Just put your wet clothes inside the basket here."
Lulu shouted as he put Mu Zhe's clothes on the shelf next to the bathroom.
"Okay. Thanks."
Mu Zhe answered. Lulu returned to the room. Tidying up and hiding what he could. After being satisfied, Lulu get the poor little one who still shivering inside the basket.
Lulu wiped the little one's body dry. After he finished, he went to the kitchen. Looking for something to give to the little one who looked so hungry.
After rummaging around, there was nothing suitable for the little one.
"Mu Zhe. I'm going out for a moment."
He shouted.
"Okay."
Mu Zhe replied. Totally make it like his own home. But in fact, this is his first time he went to Lulu's house. He didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable for some reason. Maybe because there was no one else there besides him and Lulu or because he already been destined to be there.
Lulu quickly grabbed his umbrella and ran to the old shop that was only five-minute walk from his house. The only shop in his village own by old grandpa.
Mu Zhe came out of the bathroom. Lulu's shirt was perfectly fit on him. Even Lulu was thinner then him, but he was taller. Only his pants were too long so he had to fold them several times so that they wouldn't sweep the floor.
"Kids these days really grow up fast."
Mu Zhe said to himself.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
Mu Zhe followed the direction of the little one meowing. He can't wait to see how was the little one he just saved were doing.
"Excuse me. I'm in."
He said as he opened the door to the room. It's really neat and cozy. Mu Zhe smiled. He walk to Lulu's dask. Staring at the picture presented in front of his eyes. The picture where Lulu smiling happily beside his mother and his sibling.
"I know it. Its was you."
He muttered. He softly flick Lulu picture and smiling happily.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
Mu Zhe looked down. The little one seemed to still be shivering even though his body was dry inside the basket. Mu Zhe lifted the little one and hugged him. Trying to share the warmth as his gaze wandered throughout the entire room.
"Where did Lulu go? Do you know?"
Mu Zhe asked the little one. It was still raining heavily outside. There were no signs that it would stop anytime soon.
Click!
Crekkkk!!!
The sound of the door opening. Mu Zhe remained silent while hugging the little one tightly. Who might come at this time?
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Mu Zhe heartbeats synchronously with the steps from outside. Mu Zhe kept silent. Just waiting for Lulu to return patiently while hugging his little one tightly.
Crekkkk!!!
Someone open the door suddenly. Mu Zhe flinched. Lulu appeared with a small bottle of milk for the little one. Mu Zhe let out a sigh of relief.
Without a word, Lulu took the little one from Mu Zhe's arms.
"You must be hungry. There's food on the table."
Lulu said. Mu Zhe nodded but didn't move an inch. How could he possibly enjoy eating alone while the host wasn't with him.
Seeing Mu Zhe's antics, Lulu smiled.
"Let me keep you company."
He said as he went out with the little one still in his arms. Mu Zhe happily followed Lulu like a little duckling. He even smiled from ear to ear.
"You're not working today?"
Mu Zhe asked.
"No."
Lulu replied. That day was his schedule to visit his mother in the hospital. Every Saturday, Lulu would be given the day off to spend time with his mother.
At the dining table, the food had been served. Still steaming. Unknowingly, there is blossom all over Zhe's heart. It turned out that Lulu was so considerate of him. He felt unbelievably special at that moment.
"You didn't eat with me?"
Mu Zhe asked.
"No. I'm already eating."
He said while giving his full attention to the little one who was eagerly enjoying the warm milk from the bottle he was given.
After eating, Mu Zhe cleared the dining table and washed the dishes that had been used. Even though Lulu stopped him many times, Mu Zhe still insisted. He said Lulu had helped him a lot that day. Compared to what he did, it was far from enough to repay Lulu's kindness.
"It's still raining heavily. How ajout you just sleep here tonight."
Lulu said. Mu Zhe looked deeply into Lulu's face. Was what he heard true? Lulu invited him to sleep at his house?
"I'll sleep in my mom's room. You can sleep in mine."
Lulu said after Mu Zhe remained silent while looking at him with his puppy eyes.
Hearing that Mu Zhe smiled. Lulu was indeed nice. Maybe what he thought all along was true. Lulu like him. Mu Zhe smiled became sweeter.
"Okay. Little one. Tonight, let's we sleep together."
Mu Zhe said as he took the Little one in Lulu's arms.
Lulu looked at Mu Zhe's face without a blink. With a sweet smile attached on that face, make Lulu can't take off his eyes from him.
