For the next three days, Annette didn't catch a single glimpse of the viscount, which was rather disappointing. She had spent so much time coming up with ways to repay the man for his shameless actions.
At one point, she wondered if he was avoiding her, but that thought was quickly dismissed when she learned he had traveled back to Hassile for an important meeting.
She had pressed Gabriel for details about the meeting, but the stubborn man wouldn't budge. Instead, he shooed her away like a curious child.
Curious she was, but she certainly didn't need to be treated like one.
Annette was thoroughly irritated by his dismissal and, in return, swore to disrupt his peace in every way she could. She would make his life as inconvenient as possible.
Not only because she was bored, but because she wanted the satisfaction of seeing him thoroughly annoyed. The thought alone filled her with excitement as dawn approached.
