Chapter 52 - Chapter Fifty-Two: The Consent Form

Third Person's POV

Hospital Emergency Floor

Elena's body suddenly went limp against the bed.

Her head rolled weakly to the side while the color drained from her face completely.

The medical assistant beside her gasped.

"Miss Elena?"

There was no response.

The heart monitor beside the bed began beeping rapidly.

The assistant quickly slammed her hand against the red emergency button beside the wall.

Alarms echoed through the ward.

Within minutes, hurried footsteps filled the hallway outside.

Doctors and nurses rushed into the room quickly while Lucien stepped backward automatically to give them space.

One doctor immediately checked Elena's pulse while another adjusted the oxygen mask over her face.

"Blood pressure is dropping."

"Her pulse is unstable."

"We're losing oxygen saturation."

The voices overlapped quickly around the room.

A nurse pushed medication into Elena's IV line while another doctor shone a small light into her eyes.

Lucien stood frozen near the wall.

Everything around him suddenly felt too loud.

The doctors exchanged tense looks.

"We need to move her to the emergency unit now."

The bed was unlocked immediately.

The medical team rushed Elena out of the ward while machines continued beeping loudly beside her.

Lucien finally snapped out of his shock and bent to pick up his phone from the floor.

His fingers shook slightly as he dialed a number.

The call connected almost immediately.

"Master."

Lucien's voice came out strained.

"There was an attack inside Miss Elena's ward. An old woman entered somehow. Miss Elena lost consciousness after the struggle. Her vitals are dangerously unstable now."

Silence answered from the other side.

Lucien swallowed nervously.

"Yes, master."

The call ended.

Lucien immediately looked up and hurried after the moving hospital bed.

The emergency floor became chaotic around him.

Doctors pushed the bed rapidly through the hallway while nurses called out instructions.

"Prepare the theatre."

"Get another monitor ready."

"Inform the surgical unit."

The wheels screeched loudly against the polished floor.

Finally, the doctors stopped outside the emergency theatre doors.

One of them turned toward Lucien quickly.

"Are you responsible for the patient?"

Lucien nodded immediately.

"Yes."

The doctor glanced briefly toward Elena before speaking carefully.

"Her airway was compromised. She wasn't getting enough oxygen, and it put her body under serious stress."

Lucien looked toward Elena through the moving doctors around her.

Her face looked very pale beneath the hospital lights.

The doctor continued speaking.

"Right now, her condition is unstable. If we leave her this way, it could become life-threatening."

Lucien's jaw tightened.

"But surgery also carries risks," the doctor added honestly. "Her body is weak right now. We cannot guarantee how she'll respond."

For a second, Lucien said nothing.

The sounds around him faded strangely.

Then the doctor held out a clipboard toward him.

"We need consent for emergency intervention immediately."

Lucien stared at the paper.

His eyes slowly moved toward Elena again.

Machines surrounded her from every side now.

Doctors kept adjusting wires and medications around her body.

His hand tightened around the pen.

Then finally—

He signed.

The doctor took the form at once.

"We'll do everything we can."

Then the theatre doors opened and Elena was wheeled inside.

The doors shut heavily behind her.

Silence filled the hallway afterward.

Lucien stood there motionless for a few seconds before panic suddenly hit him fully.

"Oh God…"

His breathing became uneven.

"If the master finds out before I tell him…"

He quickly grabbed his phone again and dialed another number.

The call connected almost instantly.

"Sebastian."

Lucien immediately began talking fast.

"There was an attack. Miss Elena stopped breathing properly for a moment. They took her into emergency surgery already."

He wiped the sweat gathering across his forehead.

"No. I checked the room myself. I don't know how the old woman entered."

He listened briefly before nodding quickly.

"Yes."

"Yes, understood."

The call ended.

Lucien lowered the phone slowly before dragging his trembling fingers through his hair.

Then he began pacing back and forth restlessly outside the theatre.

Every second that passed made his chest tighten more.

The bright red emergency light above the theatre doors remained on.

*

Thirty minutes later, Lucien's phone suddenly rang again.

He grabbed it before turning around. Then he froze…

Alexander was already walking toward him while Sebastian followed beside him with a visibly tense expression.

The entire hallway suddenly felt colder.

Lucien lowered the phone slowly just as Alexander stopped beside him. His eyes focused on the theatre where Elena was.

Sebastian glanced toward the emergency theatre before finally speaking quietly.

"The doctors said she may remain inside for several hours."

Alexander's eyes never left the theatre doors.

Silence hung heavily in the air.

Then finally, Alexander spoke.

"How did she enter the room?"

Lucien's throat tightened instantly.

"Master, I…"

Alexander slowly turned his head toward him fully.

The calmness in his eyes became terrifying.

"How," he repeated quietly, "did that woman enter Elena's room while you were standing guard?"

Lucien's hands trembled slightly beside him.

For the first time in years, fear crawled visibly across his face.
