Villains!' I shrieked. 'Dissemble no more! I admit the deed! Tear up the planks! Here, here! It is the beating of his hideous heart!
~Edgar Allan Poe, The Tell-Tale Heart and Other Writings
"This is her"? Agustin said staring at the girl. She was older than Canary he could tell that much and had the same jet black hair as Canary. He stared at her hair and looked back at her eyes dark brown they were and Agustin chuckled. "Your sibling just have had the same hair color as Canary".
Agustin said sitting down in front of her. They were in a run down shack that Agustin's servants had somehow fixed up. The girl didn't say anything . She didn't look nervous or anything. Which made Agustin believe she had dealt with these kind of situations before. Ikar stood behind her with a sword on his waist staring down at her. But the girl wasn't moved by his staring nor was she moved by Agustin's.
"Tell me girl ever heard of the name of Josie Reinabar". Agustin said. But the girl said nothing. Agustin grinned. "Can keep a secret can't you". "The place you stayed in is owned by the reinabars that entire village is I see tyranny doesn't fall far from the tree". Agustin said. Yet the girl said nothing and Agustin began to grow annoyed.
"Have you been threatened with silence". He asked the girl and this time she nodded. "Your sibling a long time ago did a women come and take you and her away". He asked. And the girl nodded. "How have you been silent for all these years"? Agustin asked. And the girl opened her mouth and revealed that her tongue had been cut off.
He sighed and began tapping away on the table. "I shall offer you a deal to get you out of the threat on your life". Agustin said. He stared at her hands and looked back up at her. "Do you know how to write"? He asked her. And she nodded. "Good write me a note". He waved for one of the servants and they brought him a quill and paper. "Write these words for me".
She wrote everything down that Agustin hand told her about the switching of child's,the cutting out of her tongue, and what he told her to write last confused her. He had told her to write
If something ever happens to me Alexia Whitewood was the cause.
"Done". Agustin asked and the girl nodded. "Great". He took the note she had written and nodded to Ikar. "It was great meeting you". Agustin said. He left the room and with the closing of the door came the sound of Ikar's sword unsheathing. A couple of rumbled sounds and a couple of Mingus later Okar came out of the room wiping his swords clean from blood.
For the sigh form Agustin wasn't of the girl not being able to talk for him it was a sigh of relief for his began to plan something even more sinister. With his letter he would send it someone by the name of sealed lips she was known to be against the royal family and nobles. In some cases bringing some of them down for their scandals.
"Bit how will this bring lady Whitewoods reputation down; it would only harm the marchioness". Ikar said, reading the letter. "With every truth sometimes comes a lie what do you say Canary knew about her true parentage and wanted to take the inheritance the late log woods left for her". Agustin said. "Then truly I will be the on one who wants to marry her". "How will you reveal this"? Ikar asked.
"Everyone will be going to the welcoming ball for the crown prince rich commoners alike and there I will reveal it". Agustin said. "Of you truly have to do all of these she's already agreed to marry you". Ilar asked. "Yes and you have already murdered someone". Agustin said. "Eddison has been whispering in her ears and I'm sure others have been too. It takes that one person to tell her not to marry me and she will listen". Agustin said. "I have to make sure that she will".
"What have you done with the girls body"? Agustin asked. "I had servants take care of the body". Ikar said. "And what will they do with the body"? Agustin asked. There was a heavy silence between them with Ikar not wanting to met eyes with Agustin. "My lord with all due respect I fear it would be too much for a noble's ear". Ikar answered. Agustin was dumbfounded but he agreed what guys like Ikar did was none of his business so he let it go.
Ikar was only known by his first name to Agustin. He wasn't Agustin's personal servant at all; he was a hired body. The tote of people Ikar worked for did odd bonds here and there but one of them unbeknown to Agustin is that they didn't commit murder. Agustin didn't know this and just hired anyone. What he also didn't know is that Ikar was double hired by the very person he was working with. Ikar would pretend to kill the girl and his colleagues would come and bring the girl to Ilaka.
Ikar had worked with nobles like Agustin all the time. But what nobles like Agustin always thought is that there was no one like them. Agustin was a arrogant type of smart the type of smart that was really stupid when it came to things like this. He was a shelter noble not the type of hard royalty like the crown prince who had came from Lyikar or the hard type of noble like the Wolf family or the Geiner family (who were on the verge of ruin because of the Wolf family).
But nevertheless Agustin thought he was hard. He thought he was smart and the only thing about nobles who are smart like Agustin is that they aren't street smart, just noble smart. Ilaka Declan was street smart. Due to her younger days of hanging out with the commoner children, it was the reason she could read men and nobles alike like she had read Agustin Abarca. The same reason Ikar was able to read Agustin also.
A spoiled noble who lost his parents and made it his whole personality. His life was evolved around taking down the king. And he wasn't doing it in a smart way. He had no strategy, no plans. Neither did Shimon, they were just going on a feeling. The true brains of the trio was Eddison Whitewood but Eddison Whitewood would not join the war between father or son neither would he join into any fight. The Whitewoods had remained neutral throughout all these years for a reason.
Shimon and Agustin were pulling at strings but it also wasn't like the king wasn't also pulling at strings either. For he set a whole countryside on fire to destroy his enemies and people he felt threatened by and that didn't work. Ikar didn't know who would win this battle for the throne. Nor did it affect him either who won as long as he got his pay for this job.
Agustin dropped ikar off at his apartment. And Ikar went into his apartment with a heavy sigh. "Dealing with nobles puts a stress on the body no". Ikar said opening the door to the girl and one of his colleagues. "Everytime I feel like I'm walking on eggshells". The female colleague said . "When do we drop her off"? "Now" Ikar said. "A carriage shall be coming soon did you bandage the cut on your arm Yeliana"? Yeliana nodded and looked at the girl. "She can put up a fight". Yeliana said "Anyone would put up a fight when they think they're going to die". Ikar said
"What do you think the queen will do with her"? Yeliana asked. Ikar shrugged and watched as a carriage pulled up infront of the apartment. "Not our business but she must be trying to save her if she's backstabbing the Duke". Ikar said. "Dudes here let's go".
