The meeting finally came to an end not long after that, and one after another, the villagers slowly began leaving the hall, their voices quieter now as exhaustion from the long day finally started catching up to them.
But despite how tired everyone looked—
The atmosphere was different.
People were no longer moving around with fear and uncertainty like before. Now there was direction, work, and something to look forward to.
I remained standing near the front as people gradually dispersed, discussing among themselves which houses had been repaired and where they would stay for the night.
The hall slowly emptied little by little.
I turned toward Uncle Han afterward.
"the rooms in this huge house had been cleaned uo.. about six if I'm sure so it can be used tonight," I said. "You and your family can move into one of them."
Uncle Han looked surprised for a moment.
"For us?" he asked.
I nodded once.
I replied calmly. "It is better than staying crowded inside the hall."
