I stood there and looked around properly this time, letting my eyes take in everything without rushing, and it was easy to see that this place had once been important, not just because of how big it was, but because of how it was built.
The hall was wide, with space enough to gather a large number of people, and even though it had been left for a long time, the structure was still strong.
Dust covered almost everything.
The floor was dirty.
The walls looked old.
There were two long tables on opposite sides, both still standing, but covered in dust, and around them were chairs, some broken, some leaning, some barely holding themselves up.
The big door at the front was still there, slightly worn but usable, and the windows were large enough to let in light, even though some parts of the frames were damaged.
At the far end of the hall—
There was a raised spot.
And on it—
A large chair.
It was bigger than the rest.
