Chapter 181 - Chapter 181: Breaking Through Time and Limits

Deep within the soul of Might Guy, there had always been a silent, ticking clock.

He had spent decades waiting for the perfect moment. A moment where his "Youth" would reach its absolute zenith, erupting in a final, glorious bloom that would shield the things he loved—just as his father, Maito Dai, had done before him. This was the dark reality behind the Eight Inner Gates. It wasn't just a technique; it was a pact. You spent your life pouring sweat and blood into a vessel, knowing that one day, you would shatter that vessel to unleash a power that could briefly challenge the gods.

To Guy, "Limits" were just a polite way of saying "the point where you have to die to win."

He never feared time, because he assumed he wouldn't live long enough for old age to catch him. He was a man prepared to burn to ash in a single, spectacular fire.

But then, Shen Mo had appeared, standing there with his hands behind his back and a look in his eyes that suggested he could see the very threads of causality.

"You've lived your life ready to burn out, haven't you?" Shen Mo asked, his voice cutting through the wind of the training ground. "Thinking that the only way to surpass a limit is to pay with your life. It's a brave way to live, Guy. A truly rare aptitude. But..."

Shen Mo's lips curved into a mysterious, knowing smile. "...in front of these jars, those two enemies of yours—Time and Limits—are no longer absolute. They are variables. And variables can be rewritten."

Guy's eyes widened to the size of saucers. The realization hit him like a physical blow. These are jars. He had seen the Third Hokage—a man who was once a withered husk—standing tall again, his skin tightening and his gray hair darkening. If the merchant could give back years, then why couldn't he give back the potential of youth?

"What exactly is that pill, then?" Tsunade interrupted, her medical-nin curiosity piqued. She stared at the crystal-clear object in Guy's hand. She couldn't sense a drop of chakra from it, nor any of the intense nature energy Rasa had radiated. It looked... dormant.

"I mentioned two legends," Shen Mo said, his voice taking on a storyteller's cadence. "The Martial Arts Emperor and the Striker Emperor."

In the back of Shen Mo's mind, he visualized the two archetypes from the world of DNF. One was the peak of human willpower; the other was the master of the inner flow.

"The Martial Arts Emperor is an honorific," Shen Mo explained. "He was a man who reached the 'Art'—the absolute peak of what a human body could achieve. But instead of sitting on his throne and growing old, he abandoned his titles, his glory, and his pride. He threw away everything to keep walking into the unknown. He broke the shackles of the flesh through pure, unadulterated willpower. The essence of his breakthrough is what you hold."

"And the Striker Emperor?" Tsunade asked, her interest deepening.

"He was different," Shen Mo chuckled. "An unrestrained spirit. He mastered a power called Nen Qi—or simply, the Breath of Life. He faced the same enemy you fear, Guy: Time. But through his understanding of the cycle of life and death, he learned to circulate his energy in a way that surpassed mortality. He didn't just fight time; he walked beside it."

Shen Mo had fused these two paths. One to break the physical ceiling, and one to sustain the fire indefinitely.

"Nen Qi..." Guy muttered. "Is that like what Neji has? That 'Nen' stuff?"

"Similar, but the flavor is different," Shen Mo said, shaking his head. "Neji's path is miraculous and versatile. Yours, Guy, is about Flow and Destruction. Think of it this way: some use Qi to create shields or project energy. You will use it to turn your body into a weapon that never dulls. It is the bridge between the physical and the metaphysical."

In some worlds, like the realm of the Dragon Balls, Qi was a raw, explosive force—pure speed and power. In others, like the Hunter World, it was a complex system of materialization and control. What Shen Mo gave Guy was the perfect middle ground. It was energy that required a powerful physical vessel to contain, but in return, it made that vessel indestructible.

"I don't think I understand all the fancy words," Guy said, his grin returning with a vengeance. "But I understand 'Breaking Limits.' And I understand 'Never Stopping'!"

Before anyone could offer a word of caution, Guy tossed the pill into the air and caught it in his mouth, swallowing it in one fluid motion.

"Guy! You idiot!" Tsunade screamed, her hand reaching out too late. "We haven't run the safety checks! Neji almost exploded during his advancement!"

"Haha! Don't worry, Lady Tsunade!" Guy gave her a massive, sparkling thumbs-up. "Youth should be fearless! If I can't handle a little pill, how can I handle the future?"

"He's fine," Shen Mo reassured them, waving a dismissive hand. "This particular advancement carries no risk of failure. The pill is a catalyst; it's guaranteed to work. The only variable is Guy himself—how much of that potential he can actually tap into."

The Sound of Shattering Chains

As the pill dissolved, Guy's body began to react.

It wasn't a violent explosion of energy. Instead, it was a sound—a series of deep, metallic cracks that echoed across the training ground. It sounded like heavy iron chains being snapped by a hydraulic press. Guy's muscles began to ripple and twitch, and his bones groaned as they were restructured at a molecular level.

For a moment, his face contorted in a grimace of intense soreness, but it was quickly replaced by a look of profound shock.

He felt light.

The nagging aches in his knees from twenty years of heavy training? Gone. The stiffness in his shoulders? Vanished. He felt as if a heavy cloak of lead had been lifted off his spirit.

"Is this... is this it?" Guy whispered. He clenched his fists, and the air around them hummed. "I feel... I feel like I just got ten years of my life back! No, it's more than that. I feel like I'm back in the growth phase of my teens, but with all the strength I've built as an adult!"

To a Taijutsu specialist, physical sensation was everything. Guy could feel that his "ceiling"—that invisible barrier he had been banging his head against for years—had simply evaporated. He was no longer a finished product; he was a work in progress once again.

"This is incredible!" Guy shouted, his eyes damp with tears of joy. "I feel like I could run five hundred laps around Konoha right now! No—a thousand! While doing handstand push-ups!"

He was so caught up in the physical sensation that he completely ignored the new, warm current of Nen Qi swirling in his lower abdomen. To Guy, the "magic" was secondary. The fact that he could train harder, longer, and faster was the real miracle.

"Hold your horses, Guy," Shen Mo said, shaking his head at the man's predictable enthusiasm. He gestured toward the remaining pile of money on the ground. "You've spent the bulk of your budget, but you still have enough left for the Limited Series jars."

"Limited Series?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked, stepping closer. "Is that different from the Tier 2s?"

"Think of them as the 'expansion packs' for his new life," Shen Mo explained. "Guy has the potential now, but his growth will be slow if he just sticks to running laps. He's moved beyond the level of ordinary human training. To truly cultivate the Martial Emperor path, he needs the specialized tools, gravity seals, and medicinal baths found in the Limited Cans."

Shen Mo looked at Guy, his expression turning business-like. "You can buy nine more jars from the Martial Emperor Limited Series right now. I highly suggest you do. Without them, you're trying to build a palace with a wooden hammer. You'll get there eventually, but why wait a century when you can do it in a year?"
