# Chapter 170: Bruno VS Crow
"Everyone, welcome to the Friendship Cup Quarter-Finals! This round will still be commentated by me, Melissa Claire, for everyone in Neo Domino City!" The opening fireworks exploded on time, and the Female Commentator's solid projection appeared in the center of the stadium.
"Enough talk, let's welcome today's first set of competitors!"
"First up, the vigilante from the commons! Known as the 'Black Whirlwind,' he advanced by defeating the newly crowned Emperor of the Underground Duel Arena, Shun Kurosaki, in the round of 16! It's Crow Hogan!"
Inside the competitor channel, Crow shrugged, started his D-Wheel, and said to Bruno, "Well then, I'll go on ahead."
Crow's appearance drew enthusiastic cheers from the Audience.
In the previous round's match, Crow, who defeated the favorite, Shun Kurosaki, successfully gained a large following.
"The next competitor to appear is extraordinary!" the Female Commentator announced. "He is the genius D-Wheel rider who brought the long-dormant divine skill—Accel Synchro—back to the world! It's Bruno!"
As the Female Commentator's voice faded, Bruno drove his D-Wheel out of the competitor channel and onto the starting line, accompanied by the enthusiastic cheers of the Audience.
"Looks like you're quite popular," Crow chuckled.
But Bruno paid this no mind, instead looking up toward the highest point of the stadium, where Jack's throne was located.
There, Jack Atlas slowly stood up, meeting the youth's fearless gaze.
"Relax, I believe you can defeat him." Seeing this, Crow patted Bruno's shoulder, pulling him back from his stare-down with Jack. "But before that, isn't it a bit rude to act as if I don't exist?"
"Sorry..." Bruno, pulled back to reality by Crow, said somewhat awkwardly.
"No need for apologies," Crow waved his hand. "However, if you want my help to break through to the next level like you said, you'll have to show some real skill. I won't be holding back, you know."
Just then, the Female Commentator's voice rang out again, and a holographic countdown panel appeared before their eyes.
"Action Field: Crossover Accel, set!"
3! 2! 1!
"Turbo Duel! Accelerate!" ×2!
The two of them sped out one after the other. On the short acceleration lane before the first curve, their D-Wheels successively overtook each other. Ultimately, however, Bruno's D-Wheel, modified by Yūga Hōzumi, gained the upper hand and secured the first turn.
"My turn!"
"I activate the Spell Card, Charge of the Light Brigade! I send the top three cards of my Deck to the Graveyard, then add one Level 4 or lower 'Lightsworn' monster from my Deck to my hand."
"I add Lightsworn Assassin, Raiden to my hand, and then summon it in Attack Position!"
"I activate the effect of Lightsworn Assassin, Raiden! Once per turn, I send the top two cards of my Deck to the Graveyard!"
"Next, I activate the effect of Miscellaneousaurus in my Graveyard! By banishing any number of Dinosaur-Type monsters from my Graveyard, including this card, I can Special Summon one Dinosaur-Type monster from my Deck with a Level equal to the number of monsters banished. The monster Special Summoned by this effect is destroyed during the End Phase."
"I banish this card itself to Special Summon the Level 1 Dinosaur-Type monster, T.G. Booster Raptor, from my Deck!"
"I tune the Level 4 Lightsworn Assassin, Raiden with the Level 1 T.G. Booster Raptor!"

"Limiter released, Level 5! Thrusters engaged, check! Inclinometer, check! Ground support, all clear! Go! Synchro Summon! Come on! The Synchro Tuner Monster, T.G. Star Guardian!"
From the end of the high-tech Synchro light array, a D-Wheel sped out, transforming in mid-air before landing gracefully beside Bruno.

"When Star Guardian is successfully Special Summoned, I can add one 'T.G.' monster from my Graveyard to my hand. I add T.G. Catapult Dragon from my Graveyard to my hand."
"So it's this monster?" Crow chuckled upon seeing it. "The core of your Accel Synchro, the Synchro Tuner Monster?"
"Yes, that's right," Bruno said, his hands never stopping. "I activate T.G. Star Guardian's other effect! Once per turn, I can Special Summon one 'T.G.' monster from my hand! Appear, T.G. Catapult Dragon!"
"I set three cards and end my turn." Just as everyone, including Crow, thought Bruno would continue his plays, he instead set his cards and ended his turn.
"Planning to use Accel Synchro to defend?" Seeing this, Crow understood Bruno's intention. "A Level 5 Tuner monster, plus a Level 2 non-Tuner monster... is it that same dragon you used to defeat Shinji Weber last time?"
"However, pulling off an Accel Synchro won't be that easy!" Crow said, drawing a card from his Duel Disk. "My turn! I draw!"
"I activate the Spell Card, Blackwing Shot!" After his draw, Crow revealed a card. "By sending one monster with 'Blackwing' in its name from my hand to the Graveyard, I can target one Defense Position monster on my opponent's field and send it to the Graveyard."
"I send Blackwing - Archer of the Waxing Moon from my hand to the Graveyard to activate this effect!" A black-feathered arrow shot from Crow's fingertips, whistling towards Bruno.
"A powerful non-targeting removal effect?" Bruno's brow furrowed as he twisted his D-Wheel's throttle to the max.
Bruno's figure shot far ahead, leaving the feathered arrow far behind. After his D-Wheel broke the sound barrier, a fiery red wave of air enveloped it.
"Is it coming?" At this moment, the Female Commentator and everyone in the stadium were eagerly anticipating it. "The legendary Accel Synchro!"
Finally, under everyone's expectant gazes, Bruno vanished from the track ahead.
"So he really does disappear?" Crow smiled at the sight. Bruno's voice then echoed from high above the stadium.
"Clear Mind! I tune the Level 5 T.G. Star Guardian with the Level 2 T.G. Catapult Dragon!"
"O weapon of war, slumbering in the depths of hell, reveal your true form! Accel Synchro! Level 7! Karakuri Muso 'Onido'!"
As Bruno's words faded, a violent wave of air spontaneously generated behind Crow. Bruno's D-Wheel burst forth from the void, and behind him, a rust-covered samurai mecha followed closely.

The magnificent Accel Synchro drew thunderous, tsunami-like cheers from the Audience, but there wasn't much joy on Bruno's face.
"Since I no longer have any Defense Position monsters on my field, the effect of your Spell Card fizzles," Bruno said faintly.
"But this way, that powerful monster you used to defeat Shinji Weber, the one that destroys all cards on the field when it appears, can't be summoned now, right?" Crow said with a smile. "Well then, now it's my turn!"
