Chapter 97 - No need to lie to look good

TIMESKIP: 5 years

Quite some time has passed by since Naoya almost destroyed the Kyoto Jujutsu High.

It's been 3 years since he graduated from High school and is currently pursuing higher education at a well-known university.

Since the Zenin clan taught most of the worldly subjects that might be needed for clan affairs and administration, Naoya decided to do a deep dive into tech since it was a topic that was less explored by the Jujutsu clans.

There were some objections from Naobito regarding his enrollment, but Naoya sidelined that. Most Jujutsu sorcerers don't usually opt for higher education, since their career is set as a sorcerer, and frankly, it pays quite well, too.

For Naoya, though, going for a higher education was not for a career change. Since now he had a chance to explore life, he decided to check out this new atmosphere as well.

His relationship was going well, too; the only small issue, though, was that his university was in Tokyo while Utahime was stationed in Kyoto, so they could not meet every day, but it was not that big of an issue since they met from time to time. Sometimes, Utahime even showed up to check up on Naoya(and to make sure no vixens were trying their luck).

On a similar note, even Satoru dropped by from time to time for the same reasons as Utahime.

Despite this new shift in his life, Naoya didn't lose his focus on Jujutsu, especially after the fact that in his 3rd year and final Goodwill event, he lost.

Satoru Gojo, after a long while, took victory over Naoya Zenin.

The white-haired, unfilial son mastered his domain and dropped it on Naoya at the start, giving no time for Naoya to do anything.

Satoru's Domain Expansion [Unlimited Void]. Even after the domain was deactivated, it took some time for Naoya to get back to his senses. And to this day, he still is cautious of that cheating move.

Satoru, for his part, was happier than he ever was. After so long, he finally felt that it was right to call himself the honoured one. His losing streak against Naoya finally broke.

Because of this motivation, Naoya's growth since then has been massive as well.

Two of his stats were maxed out, and one was in its last lap, meaning it won't give more potential boosts.

Speaking of potential boosts. His total accumulated boosts now totaled 320%.

Because of these boosts, his [Projection Sorcery] could now go up to 100 frames/second.

The boosts affected the other techniques as well, but there was not much quantifiable aspect to them. Though he did get a new shikigami in the arsenal, most of them were sacrificed for Snow, since he didn't feel the need to have just some hard-hitting curses without a useful technique.

He, along with a lot of his shikigami, was mostly a hard hitter, so he needed some diversity.

Still, despite his difficult selection criteria, there was a new shikigami.

Turbo Granny: A cursed spirit turned shikigami based on an urban legend. Just like the legend, she was incredibly fast, though aside from that, she had a technique too, a dangerous one at that. In her presence, if you move faster than her, your body will crash against space as if colliding with a wall and depending on the speed, the damage of the crash increases. Secondly, if she starts moving and you look at her once, the only thing that will be visible to the target will be her. The entire space around them just stops existing in their brain.

The powers she has mostly resemble her myth of targeting reckless drivers, and it honestly was quite terrifying when you take into consideration that the little cursed hag, while with Naoya, won't be fighting alone. Naoya and his shikigami could jump on an effectively blind enemy.

The Granny was also not weak. She was a Grade-1, which was further boosted by the potential boosts.

Other than training himself, he was also making sure not to neglect the twins' growth, though now he also has another student in the form of his nephew, Megumi, who proved Toji's claim about his son having insane potential. The little sea urchin had [Ten Shadows] as his innate technique, making Naoya wonder whether this kid in future would be banging the doors of the Zenin clan for becoming the clan head.

It wasn't an outstretched possibility, and considering the opportunistic clansmen, there will be many who will push him for the post.

For now, though, he was still his cute nephew whom he promised to teach nicely.

The three of them, Maki, Mai, and Megumi, have also started going to school, and since they were in the same school, they now have more opportunities to meet each other.

Currently, it was a weekend, and Naoya was walking with Utahime and the kids.

"I am not looking weird, right?" asked Utahime.

"Hm? Looks fine, though you looked better last night when we we-"

"Stop! What are you doing?! Kids are here too!!!" chided Utahime and covered Naoya's mouth. A blush appeared on her cheeks as she remembered what Naoya was about to mention.

Naoya simply smiled at her reaction. Utahime was easy to tease as usual.

Maki and Mai simply walked ahead of them, acting as the group leaders leading their men.

"We are here, nee-chan!" declared Mai and pointed at the house.

Utahime looked at the house they arrived at and gulped.

Naoya had invited her to meet Toji and Miyuki after Miyuki pestered him for years to let her meet his girlfriend.

Naoya and Utahime had not disclosed their relationship to their families since he didn't want to paint a target on her back, and she was a bit shy to tell her family that she was dating someone.....and that someone was from the 'nice and humble' Zenin clan.

Utahime at first wasn't that into it, but Naoya assured her that his sister-in-law and nephew were nice people. Toji was not included in the nice people criteria.

"Relax. You look nice, and they will like you," said Naoya and slowly interwined his hand with hers.

Utahime looked at Naoya and gave a small nod.

Naoya smiled back and pressed the doorbell.

"Coming~"

Miyuki's voice came, and the door soon opened, revealing a smiling Miyuki who immediately started checking the group and her eyes immediately landed on Utahime.

"Ara! You really are cute!!! Come in, come in."

"Nee-chan!!!"

"Mai-chan, Maki-chan, hello. Go in, Megumi is playing a game, you can join him."

Maki and Mai didn't need to be told further. The two took off their shoes and immediately rushed inside to annoy Megumi.

"Your shoes! *Sigh*, such a rowdy bunch. Who do they take after, I wonder?" muttered Naoya and neatly placed their shoes.

"You," replied Utahime.

"Huh? I am the definition of manners and class. No way it's me."

"...Definitely you,"

Naoya stared at Utahime, who smirked at him. If they were in a private setting, Naoya would have taken his revenge by now.

"Come in, I will prepare some tea," said Miyuki sweetly.

"TOJI! WAKE UP! WE HAVE SOME GUESTS!!!!"

Miyuki's calm, smiling, and homely aura suddenly disappeared as she called the man of the house.

Utahime flinched from the sudden change while Naoya simply laughed. This was a common scene.

"*Yawn* Who is it that you need to disturb my sleep?"

After a while, Toji came downstairs and looked around for the guests to evaluate if he should kick their asses for disturbing him on his day off.

Toji looked at Naoya, who waved at him and got annoyed. His gaze then moved towards the girl who was sitting beside Naoya, who immediately bowed to him.

"Nice to meet you, I am Utahime Iori, Naoya's girlfriend."

"Ah, nice to meet you too. Toji Fushiguro, his cousin," replied Toji.

He eyed Utahime from top to bottom and gave Naoya a thumbs up before going to the bathroom and freshening up.

He arrived a bit later and sat down at the table, where Miyuki served him some tea.

"Thank you," muttered Toji and sipped on it.

"Naoya told me a lot of good things about you," said Utahime.

"No, I didn't," said Naoya.

"He won't," said Toji.

"Now now, no need to lie to look good," said Miyuki.

The three of them looked at Utahime and said that at the same time, making her shocked by their reaction.

Toji looked at Naoya and narrowed his eyes.

"What do you mean you didn't? Why can't you tell her good things about me?" asked Toji.

"You are not that clueless to not know why," replied Naoya.

"Huh?"

Naoya simply sipped on his tea while munching on some rice crackers.

Miyuki smiled at their banter and enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

Utahime looked at the three of them and thought that the people there seemed nice.

"Now, now, stop the arguing," said Miyuki.

Naoya and Toji looked at her and wondered why she asked them to stop.

"We have more important things to discuss," said Miyuki.

Hearing that, Toji's eyes widened in realisation, and he gave a nod.

"Now then, Utahime Iori-san," called Miyuki.

Utahime didn't know why, but the atmosphere suddenly turned a bit cold.

Both she and Toji leaned forward and rested their chins on their hands.

"What are your intentions with our boy, Naoya?" asked Miyuki.

Utahime blinked in surprise.

Were they serious?

She looked towards Naoya.

He was not there.

"Why are you hesitating, Utahime?"

Naoya's voice came. He was sitting beside Miyuki, joining the interview.

Her jaw dropped a bit. Did she walk into a trap?

A/N: Can you guys suggest some curses that could be added to the shikigami list? Not the basic OP kinds that can end the fight, but something creative or supportive in nature, or simply a curse related to a particular phenomenon without any CT. Coming up with them is a bit difficult.

Also, I will probably not be posting for a few days. Busy with personal stuff. Just giving a heads up.

Do stone the fic.
