Level Thirteen!
It seemed as if the limits were broken, reaching a new world beyond the ceiling. To many, it might even seem that the upper limit in the Duel Monster World was only Twelve-Star, and anything above that star level would transcend the rules, an impossibility.
But in fact, that's not entirely true.
Level Twelve is just like an attack power of 5000, both are merely apparent ceilings.
Just as the attack power of Five Emperors Dragon at 5000 appears to be the highest attack power that can be marked on Monster Cards within the card pool, with the update of versions, Five Emperors Dragon has gradually become "a minnow that doesn't even count as a wall."
Because although the base attack power limit is only five thousand, reaching higher levels with card effects and the monster's own abilities is actually not very difficult. As long as the buffs are in place, even achieving infinite attack power is allowed by the rules, five thousand is just a base limit.
The same goes for star levels. Level Twelve is the highest star level that will be printed on the card face, but it is not the limit allowed by the rules. If you use enough effects to increase the star level, not just Twelve-Star, even a hundred-star king would be recognized by the rules.
