"What did you say!?"
Teacher Sato, who had maintained a calm demeanor until just now, suddenly erupted in fury, as if his eyes were about to shoot fire.
But Yugen stared directly at him, with not a trace of fear in his eyes, and calmly, clearly repeated.
"I said, no offense, but your class... it's actually garbage."
Sato's forehead veins bulged.
Ever since leaving the professional circuit, ever since he could no longer fight on the dueling field, teaching at Duel Academy had become his everything. It was so important to him, which was why in the original story, he hated Judai so much for it.
And what Judai did wasn't much, just failed to set a good example, leading other students astray.
But this guy in front of him actually called it garbage to his face!
How could he tolerate this? How could he possibly tolerate it!?
Sato's face turned dark: "You better know what you're saying, Yugen."
"Of course I know," Yugen said plainly, "The reason I didn't choose your course is because I find it worthless. Perhaps it's the essence you've summarized over years in the professional circuit, but to me, your experience is too conventional, lacking in innovative ideas and failing to provide practical training methods for improvement."
He paused, chuckled and added.
"Moreover, although you attribute your failures all to me, the truth is... there was never anyone attending your class in the first place. Want to know why?
Because your class was always boring and useless, no need for me to lead anything, other students would naturally choose the same.
Classes I avoided aren't limited to just yours, there are many others I'm not interested in. But do those teachers' courses end up with nobody attending like yours?"
Sato: "..."
"And Teacher Dade Temple, who is no longer with us now." Yugen sighed softly, "He was the teacher I respected and liked the most at the Academy. I never missed a single Alchemy Class, nor was I ever late.
But you see, even though I persisted in attending every class, Teacher Dade Temple's course attendance rate was still very low. So tell me, how come my title as Duel King doesn't work now?"
Sato gritted his teeth, remaining silent.
"Face reality, teacher. The truth is, you're just bad," Yugen said coldly, "You were once a professional player, you should understand that in the professional world, being bad is the original sin.
So in the world of education, failure is just the same.
I don't question your passion for education and the effort you've put in; I respect you for that, teacher. But to be honest, you're simply not good enough, just not suited for this job.
Actually..."
Yugen paused, smiling.
"I'm already considering suggesting to the principal to transfer you to a position outside of teaching. To be honest, you're not suited for here, not even for Duel Academy."
Sato's whole body trembled, seeming on the verge of exploding.
He glared coldly at Yugen: "Do you really think the Duel Academy is yours, Fujiki Yugen?"
"I'm just a student concerned about the Academy's development, offering a reasonable suggestion. Besides..."
Yugen tilted his head in confusion.
"Isn't it?"
"Ahhhhh!"
Sato, unable to contain his anger anymore, suddenly activated his Duel Disc.
"Well, as expected, we still have to settle this through a duel... but it's within expectations," Yugen smiled and activated his Duel Disc as well.
Actually, the moment he appeared, Yugen saw it—Sato was under the influence of a dark power imperceptible to ordinary people.
If guessed correctly, it was likely the aura of Yubel.
Yubel excelled at amplifying the darkness in a person's heart, causing dark thoughts that might have been repressed to boil over, twist into anger, and drive them to perform acts they might have only imagined before.
Sato was affected by this. Perhaps Yubel shared some of its power with Professor Kobra, who then stimulated the darkness within Sato to test Yugen.
Using Mouth Escape to awaken someone is something only the head protagonist can achieve. Cleansing this influence with a duel is sure more reliable.

"I take the first move, draw!"
Teacher Sato, his eyes bloodshot, seemed to be in a red-hot state from the start.
"I summon 'Scabbed Scarred Knight'!"
The instant this Monster was summoned, an eerie atmosphere accompanied it. The air in the surroundings seemed to grow heavier.
Amid swirling mist, a knight in heavy armor slowly rose, though the armor was scarred all over, each scar akin to a badge worn by a warrior who has seen many battles. Some parts were so severely cracked that fragments occasionally broke off and fell to the ground.

Immediately, Yugen recognized that this Monster was inhabited by an Elf. Yet, years of battle had inflicted it with numerous injuries, and its heart had been tainted by darkness, exuding a malignant aura.
This card was an animatronic card, not a physical one, symbolizing Teacher Sato's heart as a Duelist and his key Monster.
"Set one card face-down, turn end."
"The Scarred Knight, this is the ace that fought alongside you in the professional circuit, right, teacher?"
Yugen said.
"Then on my side, I also have to summon a Monster worthy of matching it...
My turn, draw!"
Yugen drew a card, and then solemnly summoned the Monster in his hand.
"Normal Summon these fellows, come forth——
——Black Scorpion Thief Gang!"
As soon as a card hit the Duel Disc, several Monsters flew out instantly. A few bandits jumped out onto the field, energetically chatting away.
"Watch it, we're now one Monster, sharing one slot!" Zarug shouted in his gruff voice, "Zik, that means you, watch it! You're over the line!"
Zik hastily shrank back: "S-sorry, boss!"
Mina gave a wry expression: "Boss, could you move a bit? Your revolver is poking me..."
Zarug's old face flushed: "My bad, it's too cramped..."

Sato's eyes widened.
These unruly buffoons are the "worthy opponents" for me?
He suddenly felt that the opponent seemed to be intentionally insulting him again...
"Battle," Yugen ordered, "Black Scorpion Thief Gang, attack 'Scabbed Scarred Knight'!"
Zarug roared, "You heard what the boss said!"
Takaga added, in a deep voice, "Charge!"
Thus, the Black Scorpion group rushed forward aggressively. Firing guns, swinging hammers, cracking whips, they surrounded the defenseless knight and started a righteous gang beating.
