The physical card was revised to allow drawing only one card. But there's a difference, in the animation it was a mandatory effect, while the physical card allows optional activation. Ultimately, Malik suffered because both the Survival Treasure Scroll and Traitorous Dragon's Thunder Summoning Bullet had mandatory activations, which is why he was infinitely looped by Game and ran out of his deck.

"Magic should be effective on Phantom Demons," said Tragodia, "your Phantom Demons, let me wipe them out all at once!"
Indeed. The Phantom Demons do not have the invulnerability to destruction like the Phantom Gods in the animation, so magic activated this turn is effective.
"Activate Cover Card, Speed Attack Magic 'Forbidden Holy Spear'," Yugen said, "reduce one monster's attack power on the field by 800 until the end of the turn, but it won't be affected by any magic or trap card effects other than this one."
