Chapter 2 - First Hunt

Episode 2-

Groaning Indra opened his eyes slowly, a slight headache that seem to fade just after sitting up. Under him was his body print in the ground 'So she really dropped me in the sky.' Indra thought inwardly while standing to his feet slowly while dusting himself off seeing his new form—no longer human.

His new surroundings is peaceful, a waterfall nearby that connected to a river but no signs of fruit trees and behind him a small cave with the view of it all. Curiosity getting the better of him he walked towards the waterfall, the large body of water in front of him almost begging him to get inside.

Seeing that the only thing that remained after his transformation was his pants and underwear that got torn to shreds, after removing them he made his way inside slowly noticing the coolness of the water didn't bother him as much as it used to.

'Is this a perk of my transformation?' Indra thought while making his way to the center, under him he could sense slight movement which made him instinctively focus 'Is that…fish?' Indra thought while looking under him now being able to see what he was looking for.

Everything aside from his new form so far seemed good, on his old world it would've costed a fortune to get peace like this and to have it casually feels more like a dream.

The sound of rustling caught his ears as he quickly looked to his left and heard two heartbeats approaching him quickly 'What is that?' The sound of heartbeats quickly turned into heavy thumping getting closer and closer until two large figures jumped out from the shadows.

Piercing yellow eyes stared him down, they stood almost if not half his height already. 'These are…Direwolves.' Rising fully out of the water Indra stared at the beasts while they growled at him. 'I didn't think I'd have to face off against something like this, how do I fight it?' A stand off between them was what anyone would assume just by watching from afar as the Direwolves began to circle him.

His heartbeat thumped with adrenaline, it was so loud it was the only sound he could hear—this wasn't fear, it was something else—this is…excitement. He could feel the tips of his fingers tingle as he began to smile ear to ear. He didn't know why he's getting excited but he knew he could feel something welling up inside him.

One of the Direwolves jumped at him, ready to devour their next victim until—Indra sidestepped the wolf. Not by his own thought or instinct, his fingers buried deep into its fur gripping it tighter than he should've been able to.

In shock at what he had done, he was stuck in place for only a second while the wolf thrashed around violently until the second Direwolf joined the fray wanting to free his companion.

Seeing this Indra hurled the wolf into the other and watched them skip like a pebble across the river. Looking down at his hands Indra was in shock and awe at his new strength, the Direwolves, now angrier than ever began charging at him.

'I hope I can actually use fire since I look like a Dragon!' Indra panicked slightly as the Direwolves became airborne, he could feel something building up in his chest as he breathed in and once his lungs become full he blew and what came spewing out was a huge flame.

Once he finished, he saw both of their torched bodies laying on top of the river and steam from his fire breath. A move he instinctively hoped he could do, he approached the Direwolves slowly to see that one was definitely dead and the other was knocking on the door.

He grabbed the dead Direwolf out of the river and sat it on the ground—not wanting it to contaminate his newly found food source and bath. He turned around ready to grab the other one until he saw it limping away 'Wow, the willpower of an animal will never cease to amaze me.' Indra began to follow the Wolf across the river and into the woods, the blood on the ground told him everything he needed to know.

He followed the trail until he began to see bits of singed fur on the ground as well, soon the Direwolf was in his sight and standing off against him with eyes still fierce with defiance. The Direwolf made the first move—a quick lounge at Indra that even he recognized as an all or nothing attack to take him out.

The Direwolf now within striking range, Indra with all the force he could muster punched through it—blood splattering across his face as the final whines of the Direwolf were heard before going limp in his grasp. After flinging the animal off of him he began walking off until— a small sound, a lot like the Direwolves.

A few feet away, half-hidden between roots and stone, a cub stood over the body—small and black-furred its legs trembling despite the way it bared its teeth. Its blue eyes locked onto him, unblinking. It had seen everything.

A low growl rumbled from its chest—forced and defiant. Indra's gaze flicked to the Direwolf at his feet, then back to the cub. 'Was it leading me here?' The thought lingered for a moment before fading.

The cub shifted forward, placing itself more firmly between him and the body. Its growl sharpened, louder now, though its body betrayed it—too small, too weak to do anything but try.

"…Yeah," he muttered under his breath, almost to himself. "I'd fight me too." The excitement from moments ago was gone—burned out, leaving something quieter behind.

The cub took another step, teeth still bared. Indra exhaled slowly, then stepped back instead. Not out of mercy, not even out of guilt, Just… because.

After a brief pause, he turned and walked away, the sound of the cub's low growl lingering behind him as the sound seemed to fade away behind him.

While heading back towards the waterfall unbeknownst to him from a distance a pair of golden slit eyes were watching him from the shadows, taking in everything they saw.
