Chapter 586 - Chapter 490: Morning

Time is seven o'clock in the morning on the second day.

Serena, with her familiarity and understanding of this base, easily avoided the few guards and sneaked into her room.

First, she took away some spare cards she had left here before, then put on the Fusion Army's uniform, as planned by Ruri, prepared the spare uniform, and only then put on a hat and stepped out of her room.

No matter what, she had trained for a very long time within the Fusion Army and was still quite familiar with this place.

Whether it's the code or the password, she remembered them very clearly.

To prove her worth, to make her father happy, she had always worked very hard, longing for Akaba Leo's approval.

But...

After more interaction with people, witnessing the real world, she had come to realize that wasn't real.

And, precisely because she escaped and saw the real world, she didn't want her sisters to be imprisoned by her father and undergo such treatment.

Carefully, she walked to the experiment area and then saw four pillar-like cultivation pods.

If it were her in the past, she might not have felt anything strange upon seeing them.

Now, upon seeing these four cultivation pods, she almost instantly understood.

He—he wants to imprison [four]!

Serena angrily rushed up, knocked on the cultivation pod, and said, "Ruri, it's me!"

In the cultivation pod with her eyes closed, seemingly unconscious, Ruri's brows moved, then she opened her eyes and saw Serena.

Serena!

"I've eavesdropped on a lot of stuff these past few days. That button over there can open it."

"Alright—"

Serena immediately closed the storage of the cultivation pod, activated the machine, and Ruri felt her body received a certain impact, slowly falling from above.

Serena tried to rush over but failed to catch Ruri in time, allowing Ruri to fall on top of her, leaving them both lying on the ground.

Fortunately, although not caught in time, the noise wasn't excessive. Ruri struggled to prop herself up using nearby machines, trying to stand.

She had been confined for too long, though machines sustained her life, her body hadn't moved for ages.

As she was thinking this, suddenly, red alarms flashed around.

"What happened!?"

"Priority project error?!"

Footsteps echoed in the distance, Serena seeing this, quickly utilized her "Superman Serena" physique, picked up Ruri, and prepared to flee, but Ruri, now aware, shouted to Serena: "Wait."

Ruri struggled to reach a nearby experimental pod, found her deck hidden beneath her cultivation pod and took away other surrounding cards as well.

No deck wouldn't do.

Then she pulled the impatient Serena and squatted into a cabinet, closing it.

A group of footsteps approached, Ruri covered Serena's mouth, urging her not to make a sound.

"That Ruri escaped!"

"What's going on, how could she escape!"

A bunch of guards shouted anxiously.

"Notify Yuri's representative!"

"Notify Yuri's representative? Who should—"

"This... no, definitely can't let Yuri's representative know about this, he'll kill us!"

"Before he finds out, quickly capture that woman!"

The soldiers had no time to ponder more, divvying up responsibilities, some scattered to search, others remained to check surveillance.

Once most outside dispersed, Serena directly rushed out from the cabinet, kicked down a soldier, and tossed two tubes of prepared reagents, exploding on the ground.

"You're so clever, Ruri!"

"Uh... let's run first."

Ruri was a bit embarrassed by Serena's praise.

Serena dared to come alone to this Dimension, devising a way to rescue Ruri, not due to recklessness.

Actually, Serena had been discussing with Ruri, while Ruri observed the situation within this Dimension, sharing her thoughts with Serena.

A few days ago, she noticed that most soldiers from this Dimension went to other Dimensions, which seemed an excellent opportunity, so she devised a feasible plan.

She seized a guard's helmet here, made a simple disguise, and wore Serena's uniform.

Ruri and Serena not only looked alike but their physiques matched perfectly, thus dressing was quite effortless.

With preparations complete, they began their retreat.

Serena had something prepared to change the Dimension Gate's destination, once successfully reaching the Dimension Gate, everything would be fine.

They were quite lucky.

Though Serena was somewhat reckless, everything hadn't exceeded Ruri's plan; the two of them smoothly reached the Fusion Army's teleportation area.

However—

Luck tends to run out eventually.

9:15

Serena and Ruri reached the second area, encountering numerous soldiers blocking the way here.

Because this was the only place to leave this Dimension, many soldiers stayed here, restricting the use of the Dimension Gate, though some soldiers responsible for other tasks needed transfer and teleportation, thus both sides were heatedly quarreling.

Within the arguing, the two girls basically confirmed the Fusion Army's main force indeed wasn't here.

But—

Just as they thought they could slip by unnoticed, a person beside them glanced at Serena, suddenly froze, and said, "Miss Serena?"

Serena widened her eyes.

Instructor!?

It was the instructor who once trained her Duel skills—

Who?

The soldiers hearing this name jolted in surprise.

Miss Serena?

Isn't that the professor's daughter?

Unexpectedly, she found time to visit the Fusion Army today...

But subsequently, they realized.

Why are there two!?

Seeing this, Serena's body moved faster than her brain, almost instantly kicking aside a soldier, while Ruri decisively inserted a card into her Duel Disk.

The fierce wind rolled, most soldiers briefly blinded, but still instinctively tried to block.

Nevertheless, Serena unhesitatingly activated the Dimension Gate.

No matter where this Dimension Gate led, altering the final destination sufficed!

Thinking about it, she was somewhat excited.

She finally could without relying on teachers, seniors, accomplish a "heroic deed."

With powerful light sparkling, the Dimension Gate's color changed to green.

Once teleportation completed, they could return to Duel Academy!

Ruri also breathed a sigh of relief.

Apparently, she'd be able to depend on her strength and escape together with Serena.

But, at the last moment of relaxation for the two.

Purple light flashed.

Accompanied by a few people's screams, the Dimension Gate's color altered.

Serena opened her mouth wide, then fell from the sky.

What appeared before her was a spiral city!

Meanwhile, at Fusion Army's headquarters.

Yuri smiled and walked over; several people saw him and immediately fearfully bowed, greeting him; even that "Instructor" couldn't help lowering his head.

Several cards slowly descended from the sky, depicting the frightened faces of Fusion Army soldiers, their last expression in this world.

Yuri bent slightly, casually picked up the cards.

"Sorry, Yuri's representative... we did not..." the soldier responsible for guarding the experimental area explained to Yuri, hoping to elucidate their actions.

Anyway, judging by appearances, the Dimension Gate should have sent the two girls to the S Dimension; perhaps they barely counted as redeeming themselves, hence—

But before continuing, Yuri pressed the Duel Disk's button, amidst screams, several soldiers turned into cards, scattering on the ground.

Subsequently, Yuri looked at the Instructor.

"Yuri's representative, what next? That Ruri was taken away by Miss Serena." The Instructor hesitantly asked, "Do you want me to pursue them?"

"The professor tasked me to stay and guard." Yuri smiled, though his indifferent tone exposed his disinterest, "As for the matters here, you can report to the professor."

Assigned to guard this place, rather than duel outside, left him quite uninterested, absolutely without a trace of motivation.

He fanned the cards like playing poker, turning to leave, seemingly unconcerned by anything occurring here.
