Chapter 113 - Chapter 112 The Suppression of the Faran Rebellion

Chapter 112 The Suppression of the Faran Rebellion

In particular, the nineteen modification surgeries directly and forcibly implanted various organs into the soldiers' bodies, giving them powerful physical qualities and combat capabilities.

The Space Marines, with their two hearts and three lungs, were actually more like weapons of war, designed for easy mass production.

True biological sages like Corax, if they wanted to create an enhanced warrior, would do so by gradually strengthening the human body's original characteristics. The nineteen modification techniques were more like piecing together a Space Marine. The entire process seemed very crude.

Omega had known long ago that the Space Marines the Emperor created were not meticulously crafted.

Therefore, the warriors of various legions all had multiple defects.

Among them, Omega knew that the Blood Angels' warriors suffered from the Red Thirst, which was why high-level blood-replenishing supplements were often added to their food.

The warriors of the Third Legion, the Emperor's Children, had suffered from a primary defect called the Blight, and the warriors of the Thousand Sons Legion had also experienced mutations from the Flesh-Change.

The Alpha Legion was no exception. The warriors of the entire legion had an innate thirst for secrets and intelligence, secretly collecting countless pieces of information like hamsters and then studying other people's secrets bit by bit.

If the Blood Angels' Red Thirst was like drinking blood, then the warriors of the Alpha Legion were constantly reading intelligence to satisfy their brains' needs.

Despite their active minds, Alpha warriors were physically quite normal and showed no signs of mutation.

Genetic seeds were not highly compatible and could not be matched with just anyone. They were better suited to people with high IQs and expertise in intelligence analysis.

Given that the secret base before them had been a major secret in the past, it was indeed unlikely that Alpharius wouldn't secretly come and investigate it thoroughly afterward.

Returning to the flagship and standing within the bridge, Omega quietly gazed upon the distant planet Moyasco. His powerful talent sometimes let him easily detect others' secrets, but he didn't bother with them and chose to ignore them. This made him feel more at ease.

The obsessive pursuit of uncovering all secrets was problematic. The Alpha Legion warriors' talent for constantly gathering intelligence was both a strength and a burden. The Ghost Legion's mystique was known to other legions as well.

Today, Omega no longer agrees with Alpharius and the Imperium's definition of the Alpha warrior.

Having intelligence capabilities didn't mean you were born a secret agent. It could also mean being a Space Marine who openly analyzes vast amounts of battlefield data to win wars and build a mighty legion capable of overcoming obstacles.

...

Inside the Emperor's massive fleet flagship amid the starry expanse, the three-meter-tall Emperor, clad in golden armor, was handling official business.

Sanguinius and Horus stood beside him. In the brightly lit, spacious room, a dozen guards stood watch around the perimeter.

About three years after the return of the Alpha Legion's Primarch, every move and every battle had been closely watched.

Whether it was the events in the Medias sector, the recent use of the Isidore sector for recruitment and governance, or the previous campaign against the Hrud civilization where hundreds of millions of missiles and a large number of nuclear weapons were used to blast the planet and create the Great Rift Valley, all these actions led to considerable controversy and mixed opinions when the Imperial Council assessed the Twentieth Primarch.

Among them, Primarch Roboute Guilliman, the Thirteenth Primarch, after hearing about the war on Shadowtooth, pointed out that the Alpha Legion's tactics were excessively wasteful of Imperial ammunition and caused unimaginable catastrophic consequences to the planet.

The Emperor looked at the two men who had finished reviewing the intelligence and calmly asked, "What are your thoughts?"

Horus, clad in white armor, replied calmly, "The Hrud have built numerous underground cities, making them quite troublesome to eliminate. The tactic of burrowing underground and dropping hydrogen bombs to destroy their underground cities is rather ingenious."

"Although the Alpha Legion consumed hundreds of millions of missiles in the war on Shadowtooth, its overall casualty rate was only seventeen percent, comparable to that of Ferrus Manus. Alpharius's bombing tactics do have their merits."

Sanguinius, with white wings behind him, laughed heartily. "Hehe, I presume our brothers' massive bombing tactics have frightened the Imperial Council a bit. Whether it was the use of countless prisoners for construction in the Medias sector or the bombing tactics, although they attracted a lot of controversy, the results are very good."

His expression grew more serious. "We need to consider whether Alpharius has destructive tendencies. The Imperium desires intact planets which can be fixed in its wars, not broken pieces of rocks."

Horus thought of the recently concluded war against the Pale Emperor. Fighting aliens and fighting humans were different, he knew. "Let him quell a rebellion once and test whether his bombing tactics are indistinguishable between aliens and humans."

The Emperor nodded in agreement. Omega and Roboute Guilliman were not the same.

Guilliman sent Space Marines to participate in the governance of his sectors, but Omega only provided behind-the-scenes planning and guidance. The three sectors of the Alpha Legion were all governed by mortals themselves.

The Emperor was pleased with this.

In his vision, the Space Marines were merely weapons of war, and governance should be left to the common people.

The Alpha Legion had consistently been actively involved in the Great Crusade, resolutely fulfilling the Imperium's conquest missions without the slightest negligence, and maintaining a very low casualty ratio. Compared to the problems of other legions, the Emperor was already quite satisfied.

The Emperor didn't care about these controversies, but he did need to consider whether Omega's bombing tactics against aliens and humans differed. Recalling a task originally assigned to the Iron Warriors, the Emperor made his decision.

"A rebellion has recently broken out in the Faran system, affecting the entire planet and showing the lingering effects of Dark Age technology. Let the Alpha Legion handle it."

Horus and Sanguinius exchanged glances. They were both looking forward to Alpharius's next move. If Alpharius also launched a barrage of attacks on human rebel soldiers, they wouldn't mind telling their brother in person that it was wrong.

...

After receiving the Emperor's order, Omega ordered his fleet to perform a warp jump to the Faran system without much thought.

In the dim void of the star system, thousands of enormous spaceships leaped out. After eighty years of warfare, Omega remained calm in the face of any impending war, enjoying the beautiful starlight with a pleasant mood.

The cold, massive fleet of warships flew all the way to the space outside the Faran system. Omega was somewhat surprised to see the planet's rotating, beautiful white atmosphere and orbital defense system.

The Imperial government had provided very little intelligence, and Omega was cautious about the core system of the Dioara sector.

The core star system of any sector was technologically advanced and had formidable defenses. The planet's defense system before them undoubtedly proved that Faran's technology was not simple.

A fleet of three hundred warships, each about one kilometer long, flew out from the starport. Omega soon received a stern warning from a general who appeared to be nearly fifty years old.

Hearing this resolute tone and knowing that both sides had already revealed their weapons in space, Omega asked, "Why did you betray the Imperium?"

Upon hearing this question, the general roared angrily. "Betrayal? It was the Emperor who betrayed us!"

"Since joining the Imperium over a hundred years ago, the Imperium has only brought our planet, Faran, endless resource exploitation and conscription, completely disregarding the lives and deaths of countless civilians on our world. Our planet was thriving, and everyone was happy when we weren't part of the Imperium. After joining, there was only endless disaster. Does such an emperor still deserve your loyalty?"

"He's nothing but a tyrant, a demon obsessed with conquering the galaxy!"

When the company commanders beside him heard the general insulting the Emperor, they couldn't help but show their anger. Norton, who was always meticulous in his work, was so enraged that he was about to curse.

Omega raised his hand to signal for quiet, and everyone calmed down.

He smiled and said, "I am Alpharius Omega, Primarch of the Twentieth Legion of the Imperium. I had never heard of the current state of the Faran system before, and I deeply regret the situation on your planet."

"The Emperor is too busy managing hundreds of thousands of star systems, so it's fortunate that he sent me here. I want to hear about the difficulties you're facing and find ways to help you."
