"Hello."
The creature in the woods was looking straight at BB. See, he used his last dollar on a postcard he was sending to the D.O.W.N office and had nothing to protect himself besides his brilliant little mind. He found two work gloves and a dozen pieces of paper in the trash. After sneaking into someone's house to steal a pen, he was writing in his journal again. Even whenever he had found his body whole again, his psychic abilities left him. Now, he was walking I-90 after a long day of doing just that. He'd spent some time working odd jobs in Wisconsin to get himself a bicycle before he got to Chicago where it was stolen.
"What are you?"
As he walked off the road and ended up in a forest off the interstate, he saw that the people had a tendency of disappearing near this place and he wasn't in any rush. The longer his unit and the crew got to know one another the better. As for whoever had been behind this thing was a complete mystery. BB was going into the woods to figure out that mystery and because of how it allowed for a more direct path.
"F-f-ff-father."
The reverse detective's eyes widened and his right hand reached at his hip for a weapon that wasn't there. When he had remembered such a thing, he felt like slapping himself in the head, but the action was cut short by the likes of him slowly walking backwards. The monster was here, in the woods. He was afraid, truly afraid. Childlike curiosity that he carried around with him was vanquished to the back of his mind. This monster was tall and thin. Small bits of steam came off of its body.
"Get away from me."
He felt disgusted at the sight of such a thing. Even though he had always been one for pushing boundaries for educational purposes, this monster was something that made him so... disgusted.
"Father?"
BB's slow walk backwards in the dirt had changed to him turning towards the road and sprinting. He wasn't that fast or athletic, but he was able to make a steady pace of about thirteen kilometers an hour.
"Help! Help me!"
Despite how embarrassing it was for him; he yelled for help. When he slowed down as he reached the guard rail. A car had passed by and when BB was chasing after the blue car, he had been running simultaneously from the monster. Upon his gaze being opposite to the car he was chasing, he saw the monster was close and had looked thinner than it was before. The creature, having seen the car, pushed past BB who was barely outrunning it and like a homing missile, crashed directly into the vehicle.
"Father."
The monster's voice of which was usually kin to an intercom had softened to a more serious tone that didn't talk in a pained scream.
"Stay the hell away from me."
When the monster crashed into the car, he had been met with a change in courses. Upon sliding forward from how fast he stopped running, he fell and slid forward further in the asphalt before rolling onto his stomach and hitting a sprinter's position before he ran in the other direction, back to the direction from where he came. As he would look upon himself later, he would see that he had greatly scraped himself at his joints.
"Father?"
The monster had fully consumed the driver of the car and despite how many calories he was burning, the monster managed to put on some body fat.
"Need a ride?"
"Absolutely."
See, he had been in contact with a D.O.W.N office and immediately afterwards of him sending a letter to the head of the organization, he had made way to being tailed by them. A small band of these agents were following him and the instant they had come to see the monster; they had understood that perhaps he wasn't the most dangerous thing in those woods.
"Do you mind explaining why you were being tailed by a... I don't even know what that thing is!"
BB had known he was being followed but he had no clue why he was being saved. One agent with large muscles and something to prove jumped out of the van to deal with the monster whilst the others drove off. BB silently felt thankful for one man's pride.
"Take me to New York."
He had felt weighed down by the likes of D.O.W.N but they were willing to take in his unit, and they were technically family from how his father had taken control of the E.P.F, D.O.W.N's sister organization.
"You heard him. But just one thing we need to ask real quick, Buffalo or New Chicago?"
There were two D.O.W.N offices in New York, one of whom was the one that the rest of the crew lived behind.
"Wake up, we're going to be late!"
Alexandria was struck in the side of the head with a pillow by Mistress. They were running behind on what was going to be the introduction that Scott told them so much about. Apparently, she was going to be meeting a long distant relative. Scott was so excited that he called for a time and place to do so. Over the last few months, he had made sure to give Alexandria a motorcycle and taught her how to use it as in his mind it was the closest thing she could get to a horse. Though even in her time, she didn't ride horses all that often.
"Okay okay... five more minutes..."
She was out like a light. Mistress had to enter her mind and pull her out of her rest and still had to proceed to hitting her again with a pillow.
"We don't have time for this, come on."
Working fast, she got dressed and grabbed a piece of toast for what she thought was some new mission. The unit had spent months expecting ODETTA to turn up again but nothing of that sort had come. When she passed by Sears, he was making some eggs and had already burnt the bacon, just as he and Mistress liked it.
