(KRYSTAL'S POV)
I jerk awake with a loud gasp, my body shooting upright before my mind can even catch up.
For a few terrifying seconds, I can't remember where I am.
I press my palm against my chest as my heart hammers so violently that it feels like it's trying to break through my ribs.
Even though it was just a dream… the sound of gunshots are still ringing in my ears.
I sit there for a while, forcing air into my lungs until my breathing finally steadies and my heart stops racing like I'm still waiting to die.
I slowly lie back down and stare at the ceiling. But the second I do, everything from last night comes rushing back.
I close my eyes but it doesn't help.
I can still see Valentino's gun aimed right at my head.
I turn toward the bedside table and grab my phone. When I tap the screen, the time makes my stomach sink.
7:56 AM.
I barely managed to get an hour of sleep.
A knock suddenly sounds at the door and my entire body jolts.
