As Gyarados stepped into the Champion tier, its dual-aura presence underwent a qualitative evolution.
It was no longer just a passive pressure; it was a physical weight. Now,
Gyarados only needed to sweep the field with a single glance to drain the
fighting spirit from any Pokémon below the Gym Leader level. Even against fellow
Champion-tier opponents, its oppressive aura was enough to throttle their move
execution and significantly dampen their combat effectiveness.
Furthermore, Gyarados had developed a new way to weaponize its presence. It had learned to "coat" its attacks with its own aura, infusing its physical moves
with a concentrated burst of malice that made the damage output truly
catastrophic.
Kenji watched the serpent and was reminded of the "Haki Infusion" from the old
pirate stories of his past life. What Gyarados was doing was

The serpent let out a series of low, vibrating growls. Its massive eyes, like
glowing amber searchlights, locked onto Escavalier. The Gyaradosite Kenji had
provided was set into the trident-like bone structure on its forehead. From a
distance, it looked like a sapphire crown set with a pulsing, blood-red jewel—a
diadem for the King of the Deep.
The nearly tangible aura manifested as an invisible mountain, crushing down on
Escavalier. The knight-bug's movements became sluggish. Just standing there, it
felt as if its heavy steel armor had suddenly doubled in weight.
Yet, despite the pressure, Escavalier didn't back down. It raised its twin
lances, its eyes fixed on the dragon. It was a species born with a warrior's
heart, instinctively driven to challenge the strongest foes it could find.

Escavalier swung its lances, its spirit unyielding even in the face of a god.
Typing-wise, Escavalier's Bug and Steel moves were resisted by Gyarados.
Logically, Mason Chu should have swapped it out immediately. But Mason was a
master of unconventional play; he stayed his hand and ordered an immediate
status strike.
"Escavalier!! Use Toxic!!"
"Dodge it!! Aqua Tail!!"
Equipped with the Radiant Quicksilver, Gyarados was effectively immune to status
conditions. But its pride was high, and it had no intention of letting a glob of
foul sludge touch its scales. With a base Speed boosted by training and the
Waterfall dash, evading a Pokémon with a base Speed of 20 was child's play.
Escavalier's movement speed was its fatal flaw. Encased in that much steel, it
moved with the grace of a tectonic plate. However, its execution speed was
high—or it would have been, if it wasn't currently being throttled by
Gyarados's aura.
The Toxic spray was lazily swatted aside by the mere air pressure of Gyarados's
movement.
Having evaded the poison, Gyarados vanished behind a curtain of rushing water.
Waterfall!!
By now, Gyarados had practiced this move so many times it had become a passive
reflex, nearly as fluid as Beedrill's "Super Speed" state. It wasn't quite as
agile as the insect, but it moved with a relentless, crushing momentum.
Wreathed in a roaring tsunami, Gyarados closed the distance like an avalanche of
sapphire scales. It arrived in front of Escavalier and whipped its tail around.
Aura and water merged into a single, muscular limb of destruction.
Escavalier couldn't dodge. It didn't even try. It braced its legs and thrust
both lances forward in a desperate counter-engage.
Megahorn!!!
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
The ultimate Bug-type move collided with the Aqua Tail.
With a sound like a dam bursting, the water effortlessly crushed the insect's
strike. Escavalier's resistance was pathetic against the weight of the
aura-infused tail; it was like a pebble trying to stop a tidal wave.
There was no stalemate. Escavalier was simply deleted from the space it
occupied.

Escavalier was launched like a cannonball, screaming across the arena before
smashing into the energy barrier. The impact was so great the shield groaned,
and the bug slid to the floor in a heap.
"Xie..."
The knight groaned, its armor dented and its lances bent. Even with its
reinforced shell, the shockwave had rattled its internal organs.
In the first half, the Sunny Day had kept Gyarados on the bench. Now that it was
finally out, it was making up for lost time. It was fueled by a month of solo
training and a primal need to prove itself. It lunged again.
Escavalier was too slow to reset. It had just managed to push itself up when the
serpent was already back in its face.
A second Aqua Tail whistled down from above.
Escavalier's helmet glowed with a metallic light as it tried to parry with its
head.
Iron Head!!
BOOM!!!! —
The strength gap was a canyon. The Aqua Tail nearly gave Escavalier a permanent
concussion, driving it so hard into the floor that the reinforced stone buckled
around its body.
Dazed and reeling, the bug saw a third tail-swipe coming.
This time, it didn't try to trade. It threw up a panicked Protect barrier.
But the shield offered only a fleeting safety. Gyarados was a berserker; it
didn't care about the barrier. It rained blows upon the green dome with
rhythmic, crushing force. One... two... three!
On the third hit, the Protect barrier shattered into fragments of light.
Escavalier was trapped against the energy wall, the massive blue frame of
Gyarados cutting off any escape to the left or right. It was cornered and
broken.
With one final, aura-coated Aqua Tail, Gyarados delivered the coup de grâce.
Escavalier was launched one last time, friction against the barrier making the
shield rumble until it finally fell still.
The knight was finished. Its eyes were dark, and its lances were still.
"Escavalier is unable to battle!! Gyarados wins the round!!"
