Previously, dodging Infernape's rapid-fire flames had been a struggle for the serpent. But with the speed boost and the momentum of Waterfall, it became much more agile.
Tanya Tang quickly saw through Kenji's strategy: he wanted to kite her and wait out the weather. Once the Sunny Day faded, Infernape—whose typing was completely countered by Gyarados—would be at a severe disadvantage.
Tanya had no intention of playing Kenji's game.

Infernape let out a sharp cry, its hands spread wide. In an instant, the flame atop its head flared to massive proportions, and its entire body was enveloped in a roaring inferno.

In this direct clash of elements, the "push" clearly favored the fire monkey.
Gyarados's massive frame was knocked backward several meters by the sheer kinetic force of the impact.
Infernape, in contrast, performed a nimble backflip in mid-air and landed perfectly on its feet.

Landing on the ground, the monkey shook its head and slapped its temples, looking clearly dazed by the feedback from its own attack.
Gyarados didn't waste a second. Capitalizing on the monkey's momentary confusion, it surged forward, whipping its massive tail down in a punishing arc.

Infernape saw the heavy tail coming and snapped out of its daze, instantly leaping backward to create space.
Tanya Tang wasn't just a trainer; she was a master of martial arts. Her three Aces were all Fighting-types, and their mastery of close-quarters combat was unparalleled. Having avoided the tail, Infernape lunged back into the fray.
Left hand: Thunder Punch. Right hand: Fire Punch.
It launched a relentless dual-wielding assault, its fists a blur of sparks and flames as it rained blows upon Gyarados.

The melee brawl became incredibly intense. Infernape possessed the Hidden Ability Iron Fist, which significantly boosted the power of its punches. Combined with its martial arts techniques and the weather advantage, every blow that connected dealt substantial damage.
But Gyarados was a veteran of a hundred brawls. Although it lacked the monkey's refined technique, it relied on its "Limit" tier intuition and its domineering dual-aura suppression. The combined weight of Intimidate and its Pressure-like presence severely hindered Infernape's fluidity, keeping the monkey from reaching its full potential.
More importantly, Gyarados was armed with three Radiant Items.
The two Pokémon traded blows in a high-speed blur, reaching a delicate, violent equilibrium.
This kind of raw, gritty brawl was exactly what the 100,000 fans in the stadium had come to see. The crowd roared with every strike.
