Roy held his breath in suspense and saw his battered self reflected in the glass-black triple eyes of the Strange Monster.
It looked at him strangely and stepped back, lowering its raised arm.
Roy didn't flinch, but glanced around for his dagger and found it a short distance away.
'Dammit. I'm not fast enough to get it. Moreover, I'm out of gas…' He just stayed calm and prayed in his heart that the spell wouldn't break so easily because he had poured the multiplying power that was enhancing his upper body into that attack.
"Hggrh…" The abyss monster grunted and pushed Roy's face with the back of its hand, making Roy wince at the pain coming from his spine.
The strange monster stepped back in fear, fear of what it had just done to Roy.
'Why is it staring at me so hard? This is getting awkward,' Roy thought, keeping his eyes trained on the monster's every move.
